General Manager


Overview

Reports to VP of Regional Operations

Responsible for planning, leading, organizing, and controlling activities related to and necessary for a successful and profitable branch consistent with corporate direction, policies, procedures and objectives.

Responsible for employee churn rate, lease operator/driver recruitment, revenue growth, branch profitability, quality scores, budget compliance, loss prevention, and customer retention/churn.

The General Manager is expected to make decisions consistent with the organization’s values and goals. Execution of position responsibilities must be consistent with corporate policies and procedures as defined in the Employee Handbook. The General Manager supports the Corporate Vision and Values Statement in daily management activities.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with operations, fleet administration, driver recruitment, training, warehousing, planning and dispatch.
  • Warehouse and facilities management.
  • Consistent, well-implemented training programs with measurable and well-documented results.
  • Branch administration to include management support for credit and collections, billing, general accounting, a/p, and customer service.
  • Consistent revenue growth thorough effective resources planning.
  • Revenue forecasting, budget planning and expense control.
  • Quality compliance measured by United’s and UniGroup’s quality scores, customer satisfaction reports and internal surveys.
  • Human Resource management to include wage evaluations, performance reviews, background checks, recruitment, policy compliance, disciplinary warnings, terminations, and team building activities.
  • Evaluating performance standards, defining criteria to measure progress against objectives.
  • Recording and reporting performance, evaluating performance annually, assessing performance against objectives and performance standards, and identifying deficiencies.
  • Establishing organization structure, identifying and grouping employees into efficient and effective positions.
  • Customer awareness- cognizant of customers’ business, accurately determine customer needs.
  • Company awareness- knowledgeable and understands the functions/services of McCollister’s and UniGroup.
  • Operational proficiency- skilled and able to plan and execute a broad range of services or design and deliver custom services in response to unique client needs.

Education

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience

  • A minimum of 3+ years in warehouse management required
  • Required warehouse experience including receiving, inspection, shipping, wireless inventory control, and data entry
  • Position requires a minimum 3 years’ experience working with automated WMS systems
  • Industry awareness- informed and knowledgeable of the moving industry/competition
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and Google G Suite
  • Candidate must be able to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
