Job Description:

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Mainframe Developer with a strong background in Cobol and Hogan to join our innovative team. The ideal candidate will possess over 9+ years of experience in software development, with a proven track record of designing and implementing complex applications. Candidate will contribute and be a team player for the Mainframe Cobol, Hogan tech stack to enhance the software solutions and drive efficiency across development processes.

 
Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of Mainframe-based applications incorporating with strong skills with Cobol and Hogan.
  • Design, develop, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, and DB2.
  • Collaborate with developers, qa, to integrate with project team for design and develop applications.
  • Architect and implement scalable application development aligned with business requirements.
  • Ensure the performance, security, and reliability of applications throughout their lifecycle.
  • Conduct code reviews, providing constructive feedback and guidance to junior developers.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
 
 
Requirements:
 
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 9 years of proven experience as a Mainframe Developer with a strong portfolio of successful projects.
  • Extensive experience with strong background in COBOL, JCL, DB2, and other mainframe technologies, and will be responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and scalability of legacy systems that are critical to our business operations.
  • The individual would split their time doing development work on new functionality support the ICS testing environments and the other half performing production support activities for the jobs running in IT, UAT and AAE.
  • Expertise with RPG400, RPG III, COBOL, or SYNON in an AS/400 environment, or COBOL or C in one of a variety of mid-range platforms such DEC VAX or HP3000. AS/400 Programmer, VAX Programmer, HP Programmer.
  • Performs all or part of full life cycle development process with an emphasis on developing business applications, supporting existing applications, modifying/enhancing them support current needs, and implementing the changes necessary as the needs of the business units change. Usually involves high-volume and large-scale batch or online processing.
  • Well versed in DevOps practices for mainframe CI/CD pipeline.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and their services.
  • Experience with database design, management.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application issues and performance problems
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and mentorship abilities.
 
Preferred, but not required:
 
  • Experience with learning frameworks and utilizing best practices of AI.
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
