Goodwill Industries of Tenneva is a mission-driven social enterprise dedicated to changing lives through the power of work. Through our retail stores, donation centers, transportation network, and workforce development programs, we provide employment opportunities and career services to individuals throughout Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia.
We're looking for an experienced and motivated Assistant Manager of Transportation and Logistics to help lead our transportation and warehouse operations. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on leader who enjoys developing people, improving processes, and supporting a mission that changes lives.
Position Summary
The Assistant Manager of Transportation and Logistics supports the daily operation of Goodwill's transportation, fleet, warehouse, and distribution functions. This role supervises transportation and warehouse team members, coordinates dispatch and route execution, supports fleet readiness and regulatory compliance, and helps ensure donated goods and supplies are moved safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively throughout the organization.
What You'll Do
  • Assist in leading daily transportation, warehouse, and logistics operations.
  • Coordinate driver schedules, routes, and dispatch activities.
  • Support fleet maintenance, inspections, and regulatory compliance.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop transportation and warehouse team members.
  • Coordinate inventory movement and warehouse operations.
  • Monitor operational performance using routing and fleet technology.
  • Support budgeting, cost control, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Respond to operational issues, accidents, and emergencies while maintaining service continuity.

What We're Looking For
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Two to four years of transportation, warehouse, fleet, or logistics experience.
  • Leadership experience in transportation, dispatch, warehouse, or operations.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of transportation, fleet, warehouse, and safety practices.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to travel throughout the Goodwill service area.
  • CDL and forklift certification preferred but not required.
