The Position (Summary):
The Mechanical Assembler 1 (Temporary) will be responsible for timely and accurate assembly of assigned product(s), troubleshooting and repairing of mechanical assemblies and systems that meet current configuration as defined by engineering. Work includes new product assembly, refurbished components/assemblies, testing, engineering prototype support, and building maintenance.
Minimum Essential Requirements:
  • Assemble sub-assemblies, final assemblies, and systems per manufacturing drawings, Bill of Materials, schematics, and instructions
  • Operate hand tools and small power tools and understand their use and function
  • Ability to learn how to use precision measuring tools and learn fitments/tolerances
  • Basic knowledge of pneumatic schematics, symbols, and plumbing.
  • Ability to learn water/hydraulic schematics, symbols, and plumbing.
  • Inspect all work before passing it on to the next operation
  • Perform required repairs/refurbishments to return assembly to operational state
  • Keep supervisor informed of all potential issues for quick resolution
  • Provide support to the production supervisor on all production assignments, and work with other departments regarding special work assignments
  • Conduct inventory cycle counts
  • Adhere to all safety policies and guidelines
  • Must own basic hand tools (wrenches, sockets, hammers, screw drivers, pliers, etc) and keep tools at work
  • Other tasks as assigned

Preferred Key Requirements:
  • Experience assembling capital equipment
  • Experience in the tire and rubber industry is a plus
  • Train and progress in the ability to build equipment by reading/interpreting blueprints, schematics, assembly instructions, work orders, engineering drawings/models, etc. to enable production of parts consistent with current engineering configuration
  • Good problem-solving skills, strong digital and analog skills, ability to troubleshoot in a logical manner
  • Machine shop experience using milling machine and lathe is a plus
  • Welding/soldering/brazing experience is a plus
  • Tow motor experience is a plus
  • Overhead crane experience is a plus
  • Flexibility with customers' changing requirements, available to work overtime as needed, including weekends

Experience and Education:
  • Experience: 2-5 years' experience in machine building with thorough knowledge and understanding of blueprints, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; or relevant job-specific experience
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal communication

Technology:
  • Effective use of Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Position will require daily utilization of Microsoft Teams, D365, and Microsoft Office Suite
