What does a golf data analyst do?

A Golf Data Analyst collects, processes, and interprets data related to golf, such as player statistics, course conditions, and tournament outcomes. They use statistical tools and software to identify trends and provide insights that can help players, coaches, and organizations make informed decisions. Their work may include creating performance reports, developing predictive models, and supporting broadcast or betting platforms with relevant data. Golf Data Analysts play a crucial role in modernizing the sport by leveraging analytics to improve performance and enhance the viewing experience.

What does a typical day look like for a golf data analyst, and how do they interact with other departments?

A typical day for a Golf Data analyst involves collecting, cleaning, and interpreting data from golf tournaments, player performance, and equipment usage. Analysts often collaborate closely with coaches, athletes, and marketing teams to provide actionable insights that improve player performance or inform business strategies. Communication and teamwork are key, as you'll frequently translate complex data findings into practical recommendations for non-technical stakeholders. The role also requires staying updated on the latest data analysis tools and trends in sports analytics.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a golf data analyst, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Golf Data Analyst, you need strong analytical skills, a background in statistics or mathematics, and a solid understanding of golf analytics and performance metrics. Proficiency with data analysis tools like SQL, Python, Excel, and sports analytics platforms is typically required. Exceptional attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication are key soft skills that set top candidates apart. These competencies ensure accurate interpretation of golf data, support informed decision-making, and drive performance improvements for athletes and organizations.

Job description

Location: NY Area preferred, Remote (US) eligible if willing to travel 1x/month · Type: Full-time

Arccos is the global leader in golf data and AI, providing the game’s first AI-powered platform that automatically tracks shots and delivers personalized insights to help golfers play smarter and improve faster. As the Official Game Tracker of the PGA TOUR, Arccos has built a passionate community of golfers who use data to unlock their potential on the course.

Arccos works with many of golf’s most influential brands and players. Strategic partners include the PGA TOUR, PING, Titleist, COBRA PUMA Golf, Callaway, TaylorMade and Club Champion, as well as Matthew Fitzpatrick and Edoardo Molinari.

We exist to unlock human potential in sport through intelligence. Our mission is to improve the performance of dedicated golfers at every level by seamlessly collecting rich data and generating actionable insights.

What You'll Do

Own one of our most important product areas end-to-end. That means strategy, roadmap, execution, and outcomes. Not just outputs.

Take fuzzy, high-stakes problems ( the kind with no obvious owner, no playbook, and real business consequences) and turn them into clarity, priorities, and shipped product.

Work directly with engineering, design, and data to build experiences that feel effortless and premium, with the craft and taste our members expect.

Use AI as a default part of how you work and what you build: prototyping with it, analyzing with it, and shaping product experiences powered by it.

Raise the bar for the whole product org through the quality of your thinking, your writing, and your work, not through process or title.

Make high-quality decisions quickly with imperfect information, and keep teams focused on what matters most.

Who You Are

You've built consumer products at scale. You've shipped consumer software (bonus: mobile apps) that real people chose to use, and you understand what it takes to earn engagement, retention, and love, not just usage.

You’re obsessed with golf. You play every chance you get. You have strong opinions on template holes, your favorite architects, and whether broomstick putters should be illegal.

You're scrappy and entrepreneurial. You'd rather ship a rough prototype this week than a polished spec next month. You find the fastest honest path to learning, and you're resourceful when the path isn't paved.

You care about outcomes, not ceremony. Process is a tool, not a religion. You measure yourself by member and business impact, and you flex your approach to fit the problem rather than forcing the problem to fit a framework.

Ambiguity energizes you. You don't need a well-defined lane. Handed a vague goal, you create the structure, make the calls, and bring others along.

You have real product sense and design taste. You can tell the difference between good and great, you sweat the details that make an experience feel premium, and you can articulate why , even if you're not the one pushing pixels.

You have execution chops. You've personally driven complex products from idea to launch to iteration. You dig into technical details comfortably, you keep momentum when things get messy, and things you own actually ship.

You're AI-forward. You use AI tools daily and instinctively, you have strong opinions about where AI genuinely improves a product versus where it's a gimmick, and you're excited to build at the frontier of what's possible.

You lead without authority. People follow your thinking because it's good, your communication because it's clear, and your example because you deliver.

Bonus Points

Experience with consumer hardware, IoT, or sensor-driven products

Experience building AI-powered product experiences in production

A founder or early-startup background

Why This Role Matters

This role directly shapes how Arccos turns data into intelligence that helps golfers play smarter and better. The products you own will influence decisions golfers make on every shot, every round, and every season. Your ability to move fast, think clearly, and take full ownership will help determine how effectively we deliver on our mission today and how boldly we pursue our vision tomorrow.

What We Offer

401K program and company match

Golf! We reimburse your rounds to test the app, and occasionally travel to great courses to test or for team events

An awesome team to join

Equal Opportunity Employer

Arccos is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, veteran status, or any other legally protected characteristic.
