POSITION SUMMARY 

The Golf Course Maintenance Worker 1 performs unskilled and limited semi-skilled golf course maintenance activities. May require independent judgment in the disposition of routine matters without direct supervision. Will work under the direct supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent or the Golf Course Superintendent Assistant.

REQUIREMENTS, ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: 

  • Provides support for the department
    • Assignments often include the use of hand and power tool, the operation of small power-driven equipment and the occasional operation of road and golf maintenance vehicles on a relief or fill-in-basis
    • Conducts irrigation repair tasks under the direction of a superior.
    • Rakes, shovels, edges, adds sand, and removes rocks from sand traps.
    • Changes cup locations.
    • Moves tee markers.
    • Services ball washers and empties trash containers.
    • Irrigates greens, tees and fairways.
    • Mows greens, fringe, tees, fairways and roughs.
    • Performs minor adjustments to mowers.
    • Operates hand mowers, weed trimmers, trucksters and other vehicles.
    • Maintains clubhouse grounds.

  • Requires continual attention to details
  • Must exhibit excellence in Customer Service with all customers
  • Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily

Physical Demands and Work Environment 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is not regularly required to sit. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Greater than 50 pounds may require a team lift. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. Specific required movements include the following: trunk-bend, twist, rotate, push, pull, and carry, arm’s reach and leg-lifts.
