Position Summary

GoldenWolf is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to support the Defense Health Agency (DHA) portfolio. This role serves as a technical subject matter expert responsible for evaluating structural systems, analyzing facility conditions, supporting recapitalization planning, and providing engineering guidance for hospitals, medical centers, laboratories, and other critical healthcare facilities.

The ideal candidate has experience performing structural assessments, facility condition evaluations, seismic reviews, and capital planning for complex building portfolios. This position offers the opportunity to influence long-term infrastructure decisions across a nationwide healthcare system.

Job Type: Hybrid with up to 25% travel

Essential Functions:Structural Engineering & Facility Assessments
  • Perform visual inspections and condition assessments of structural systems.
  • Evaluate foundations, framing systems, load-bearing elements, roofing systems, and other building components.
  • Identify structural deficiencies, deterioration, and seismic vulnerabilities.
  • Assess structural integrity and remaining useful life of facilities.
  • Verify construction methods, materials, and building data accuracy.
Technical Analysis & Reporting
  • Analyze facility condition data and structural condition indexes.
  • Prepare comprehensive recapitalization reports and facility renewal recommendations.
  • Develop narratives, condition assessments, asset evaluations, and supporting documentation.
  • Conduct life-cycle and replacement cost evaluations.
  • Create technical reports and presentations for DHA leadership and stakeholders.
Strategic Infrastructure Planning
  • Advise DHA leadership on facility recapitalization, renewal, modernization, and replacement strategies.
  • Support long-term capital planning and asset management initiatives.
  • Evaluate current and future work requirements affecting facility performance.
  • Provide recommendations on structural upgrades and infrastructure investments.
Database & Asset Management Support
  • Maintain accuracy and completeness of the SMS BUILDER database.
  • Review, update, validate, add, modify, and remove asset records as necessary.
  • Analyze and document data from:
    • SMS BUILDER
    • DMLSS-FM
    • Work Item Work Plans (WIWP)
    • Site Master Plans
    • Cost Books and Plant Replacement Value (PRV) data
Collaboration & Training
  • Partner with Program Managers, engineering teams, assessment personnel, and DHA stakeholders.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to facility assessment teams.
  • Support complex UNIFORMAT classifications and facility system evaluations.
  • Present engineering findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with a Structural Engineering emphasis.
  • Minimum 5 years of structural engineering experience.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • International Building Code (IBC)
    • ASCE 7
    • Structural analysis and assessment methodologies
    • Building systems and infrastructure
  • Experience conducting building inspections and structural condition assessments.
  • Excellent technical writing, reporting, and communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex engineering and facility data.
  • Experience working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% to support onsite facility assessments.
Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates with one or more of the following are strongly encouraged to apply:
