The Opportunity
This position works out of our St Paul or Plymouth, MN location for our Electrophysiology medical device business. In Abbott's Electrophysiology (EP) business, we're advancing the treatment of heart disease through breakthrough medical technologies in atrial fibrillation, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives.
What You'll Work On
The Sr. Clinical Publication Manager in Electrophysiology designs and delivers the scientific publication plan for in-human electrophysiology device data. They lead a team of medical writers and work closely with cross-functional partners and external stakeholders to translate complex clinical trial findings into peer-reviewed manuscripts and congress presentations. The Clinical Publications Manager (Electrophysiology) will lead the strategic development and execution of global publication plans. This role will report through the Electrophysiology Clinical Affairs Department within Abbott Medical Devices - Electrophysiology business. This role ensures timely, ethical, and compliant publication of clinical data for our electrophysiology portfolio.
Specialized Electrophysiology Responsibilities
  • Clinical Data Translation: Translate complex trial data on devices used in cardiac ablation into clear scientific narratives.
  • Congress Strategy: Lead abstract submission strategies for major cardiology congresses like the Heart Rhythm Society (HRS) and European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA).
  • Stakeholder Management: Partner directly with electrophysiologists, cardiac surgeons, and trial investigators to co-author manuscripts.
  • Device Safety Reporting: Manage publication timelines for post-market clinical follow-up (PMCF) studies and registry data.

Strategic Publication Planning
  • Develop annual publication plans for electrophysiology assets.
  • Align publication timing with product launch milestones.
  • Manage timelines for data disclosure.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners in R&D, marketing, medical affairs, and Biometrics.

Content Generation & Oversight
  • Coordinate writing of abstracts and manuscripts and development of posters and podium presentations.
  • Review technical documents for clinical accuracy.
  • Manage external medical communication agency partners.

Compliance & Integrity
  • Enforce Good Publication Practice (GPP) standards.
  • Follow International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) guidelines.
  • Maintain documentation in publication management databases.

Required Qualifications
  • Education: Advanced scientific degree (PhD, PharmD, MD, or Master's in bioengineering/life sciences).
  • Experience: 5-7+ years in medical publications or medical communications.
  • Domain Expertise: Strong background in cardiology, medical devices, or cardiac electrophysiology.
  • Skills: Expert knowledge of clinical trial designs and statistical methodologies.
