The Task Force for Global Health is an Emory University affiliate located in Decatur, GA. Its eight programs focus on building durable public health systems that serve all people. Focus areas include neglected tropical diseases, vaccines, and health systems strengthening. The Task Force received the 2016 Conrad N. Hilton Humanitarian Prize–the world's largest award of its kind–in recognition of its extraordinary contributions to alleviating human suffering.

ITI is a partner in the Global Program to eliminate trachoma as a public health problem. ITI’s mission is the elimination of blinding trachoma, the world’s leading infectious cause of blindness, through the stewardship of the donation of the antibiotic azithromycin provided by Pfizer, developing and strengthening partnerships for implementing the WHO-endorsed SAFE strategy for disease elimination, and knowledge management for the global program through the development and maintenance of the database for the Alliance for the Global Elimination of Trachoma by 2020 (GET2020) database.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Assists in providing disease intervention services by researching resources within countries and developing country profiles, for the Task Force for Global Health.
• Handles data management including collecting data, maintaining databases, conducting data quality checks, and preparing reports. 
• Supports countries by researching needed resources. Coordinates communications with countries/implementing partners. Performs other related duties as required. 
  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• A bachelor's degree in public health or related scientific field from an accredited school. A master's degree in public health from an accredited school is preferred.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS: 

Data Management & Country Support

• Maintain and update ITI databases, including National Program Coordinator contact information, status of annual drug applications, and country program information and data
• Prepare trachoma reporting forms and azithromycin donation requests to be sent to countries and upload into the database once returned
• Review trachoma reporting data submitted from Ministries of Health 
• Track country submissions of trachoma reporting data 
• Act as a communications liaison with internal & external partners for program-specific updates
• Support country data audits upon request

Meeting Support

• Assist the Program Team in preparations for the Trachoma Expert Committee (TEC) meetings
• Providing project management and operational support for TEC book creation
• Proofreading and formatting documents
• Working with printers to publish a professional product
• Quality checking TEC book
• May be asked to support the Operations Team with the planning and logistics of specialist meetings (e.g. regional meetings and other ad hoc events that are relevant to the Program Team)

Program Team Support

• Program Team meeting management: calendar invites, agendas, note taking
• Program-specific meeting support (logistics, catering) as required
• Update and maintain project management tools (e.g. Monday.com boards, Mail Merge) to support Program Team activities
• Compile information and prepare materials for reports and presentations
• Assist with updating, proofreading, and editing program documents, templates, reports, presentations, and correspondence
• Establish priorities based on knowledge of program needs and meet associated deadlines

National Trachoma Program Support (Additional growth opportunity once proficiency is demonstrated in above areas)

• Under the supervision of the Senior Public Health Advisor, assist with providing technical support to Ministries of Health and national programs in up to three countries so that they can:

• Prepare their annual azithromycin application, ensuring compliance with the donation criteria
• Develop and carry out plans for SAFE implementation, including development of activity plans (including Trachoma Action Plans), timelines, and budgets 
• Manage country drug requests through every step of the process, including but not limited to:
• Liaising closely with national program coordinators and implementing partners to maximize access to donated azithromycin
• Understanding challenges faced by national programs in order to advocate on behalf of the programs to implementing partners, donors, and ITI management
• Advocating on behalf of the country at the twice-annual Trachoma Expert Committee meetings
• Working with ITI supply chain team and national Ministries of Health to keep Memoranda of Understanding up to date
• Working closely with ITI management and supply chain team to ensure the correct quantity of azithromycin arrives at the right place, at the right time, everytime
• Working closely with Program and Data Team members. assist in editing shapefiles for the global trachoma program using ArcGIS Pro

Other Duties

• Perform other ITI program-related duties as required
• Participate fully as a member of the Task Force for Global Health by contributing, assisting and participating in projects, activities, and initiatives as requested by management

TRAVEL: 15-20% domestic and/or international travel is expected

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• French or additional language proficiency is an advantage
• Master's degree in public health from an accredited school
• Strong, demonstrated attention to detail
• Excellent time management skills
• Knowledge of and proficiency with Adobe Acrobat, ArcGIS, and database management
• Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills with ability to work effectively in a multicultural team environment
• Work experience with Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs) is not essential, but an advantage

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs.  Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
