Role Snapshot โ€“ย Media-Driven Strategic Communications

Weโ€™reย seeking an Account Manager with deep earned media experienceย -ย someone who understands how to work with journalists,ย developย compelling story angles, and secure meaningful coverage that advances mission-driven goals.ย 


This is not a marketing, advertising, or sales role. Itโ€™sย ideal for a PR professional who thrives at the intersection of media relations, thought leadership, and narrative strategy, and who wants their work to contribute to positive social change.

Youโ€™llย work closely with our founders and senior strategists, leading day-to-day client relationships and driving media-focused communications programs for high-impact organizations.ย 


What Youโ€™ll Do

  • Serve as a trusted day-to-day partner to clients, managing relationships with confidence and careย 
  • Lead earned media strategies, including:
    • Developing story angles and messaging
    • Pitching journalists and editors
    • Securing media coverage, op-eds, interviews, and thought leadership placementsย 
  • Track and analyze media coverage, delivering clear reports that assess message pull-through, narrative impact, and opportunities for amplification.ย 
  • Monitor media trends and emerging news toย identifyย timelyย pitching opportunities and position clients within relevant public conversations.ย 
  • Draft and edit high-quality written materials, including:
    • Media pitches and press materials
    • Op-eds and contributed articles
    • Talking points, speeches, and briefing documents
    • Communications strategies and media plansย 
  • Support media training and message development for executives and subject-matter expertsย 
  • Collaborate with internal team members to ensure strategic alignment and flawless executionย 
  • Manage multiple client priorities with clarity, responsiveness, and calm under pressureย 
  • Contribute ideas that strengthen client impact and help evolve Newton Streetโ€™s offeringsย

  • Exceptional writing and editing skillsโ€”clear, persuasive, andย purposefulย 
  • Experience working in or alongside - PR agencies, foundations, socialย impactย or policy-focused organizationsย 
  • Knowledge of one or more coreย issueย areas: climate, global health, womenโ€™s health, mental health, economic opportunity, or philanthropy.ย 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects without sacrificing quality or judgmentย 
  • Responsive and proactive while working in a remote office environmentย 
  • Experience in working across teams and collaboratively with other partners or agenciesย 
  • Technologically fluent and proactive, with strong organizational and collaboration skills.ย
