WISE Program Bus Driver

Garrison Forest School

Owings Mills, MD • On-site

$16 - $18/hr

Part-time

Posted 29 days ago

Job description

Garrison Forest School is seeking an experienced bus driver using a GFS mini-bus or van to transport students from our school to another location in Baltimore.  The days needed are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons, departing GFS around 12:35pm and returning by approximately 5-5:15pm.  Interaction with the students (about14 per term) is a part of this responsibility.  This is a part-time position and the hourly rate range for this position is $16-$18/hour based on experience level; the exact compensation will be discussed during the hiring process.

Program basics:

  • Now through the end of May

  • Every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, except for:

    • Thanksgiving break

    • Winter break

    • Spring break

    • Some days during Exam Weeks (one in mid-January, one in late May)

    • Days students have no school or irregular school day (class retreat days,  standardized testing days, etc.)

    • Odd days here and there when the US has a day off and no student elects to participate.

  • As of now we have a maximum of 13 students participating this fall.. The location for drop offs/pick ups there depend on factors including safety, access, and timing.

  • The driver typically waits at one of the locations in between drop off and pick up. Parking at the location doesn't accommodate the size of our mini-bus. There is some street parking nearby.  Returning to GFS between drop off and pick up is an option, but typically too tight timing-wise.

  • We do watch the weather and sometimes don't go to one or both locations or move up the pickup times, if that seems advisable for safety

  • There will be some other occasional driving needs for our Public Health program on other days/times, if/when the driver is available

Qualifications:

  • Must have a good driving record, the ability to read, write, and speak English; may be subject to testing to satisfy the MVR regulations for school drivers; maintain a driving record in accordance with COMAR (code of Maryland regulations).
  • Must possess, or be able to obtain, all valid applicable state licenses and other required certifications to operate company vehicles.
  • Will be subject to background checks and other random screenings may be applicable.

School Overview:

Garrison Forest School, located in Baltimore County, Maryland, is an independent, non-sectarian day and boarding school educating girls in grades K-12, with a coed preschool. GFS offers a national and international boarding program for girls in grades 8-12.  Founded in 1910 and set on a stunning 110-acre campus in suburban Owings Mills, Garrison Forest offers a program with a wealth of opportunities in Academics, the Arts, and Athletics.  Confident, creative and compassionate, GFS girls are encouraged to be fully engaged within the school and with the local and global community around them as they develop their passions and their own authentic voices in a spirited and joyful environment.

Candidates should support the Mission, Core Values, and Statement of Respect of Garrison Forest School. Garrison Forest School is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, sexual orientation, ethnic origin, sex, gender identity or expression, religion or disability in its employment policies and other school-administered programs.  Candidates from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
