Job description

The Financial Controller is the senior financial manager responsible for all accounting and reporting for Redpath USA. The Financial Controller is responsible for the management of the full range of budgeting/forecasting, project accounting, financial accounting and reporting. Duties also will focus on maintaining proper internal controls and reporting to both local and parent company management.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or related field (required)

MBA, or advanced degree preferred

CPA or CMA certification strongly preferred

Work Experience:

Minimum of ten years of experience in accounting or finance with at least five years in a managerial role, preferably within the mining or construction industry

Experience with FP&A and financial reporting

Experience with Project Accounting

Experience with Oracle Fusion and reporting tools, or PowerBI

Strong knowledge of IFRS accounting standards

Experience in global, cross-matrixed organization

Knowledge Required:

Leadership: Strong leadership skills including performance management

Financial acumen: Deep understanding of project accounting, financial accounting and financial planning and modelling

Analytical skills: Strong quantitative skills with advanced problem solving capabilities

Business Partnership: Ability to influence and support senior stakeholders in decision making

Communication: Strong ability to present complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders at all levels of the organization

Adaptability: Comfortable in fast paced, global, cross matrixed organization

Project Accounting

Manage Project Accounting function; collaborate closely with Project Controls and Operations

Lead and develop project accounting staff, driving continuous improvement in the quality of deliverables

Monitor Unbilled Receivables to ensure balance is converted to Billed in a timely manner

Work closely with Project Controls to understand disputes; collaborate on solutions

General Ledger

Coordinate with Redpath Shared Services (SSC) to ensure all transactions and processes are performed in an accurate, timely and complete manner (AP, Intercompany, Fixed Assets, Financial Reporting)

Ensure all financial transactions are recorded in accordance to IFRS; stay informed of changes in standards and embed Corporate Controlling policies and procedures

Review balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure they are completed in timely manner, with clear supporting documentation, discrepancies are identified and investigated

Ensure all indirect tax and US corporate tax filings and returns are completed and submitted in timely manner; serve as source of knowledge on individual states indirect tax schemes

Responsible for leading financial audit inquiries, insurance renewals

Financial Reporting

Prepare corporate reports, which may include KPI tracking, variance analysis and root cause analysis

Enhance reporting process to improve visibility and decision-making

Embed and leverage Oracle reporting to improve reporting efficiency

Review monthly and quarterly financial statements (generated by SSC) in HFM; prepare variance analysis; work closely with Corporate Controller to meet deadlines and respond timely to inquiries

Budget and Forecasting

Lead preparation of budget and forecasts for RUSAC

Develop models to support planning and scenario analysis; work closely with operations and project controls for inputs; develop labor rates

Drive continuous improvement in FP&A processes, tools and methodologies

Consolidate and present to Country and Regional leadership

Team Leadership and Development:

Manage and mentor a small team of accounting professionals, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.

Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork and professional development.
