The role requires strong GIS development, spatial-data management, system-integration, automation, and modern web-development capabilities. The GIS Developer will build scalable solutions using the Esri ArcGIS platform, Python, SQL, Microsoft Azure services, and contemporary web technologies to support informed operational and investment decisions.

The successful candidate will collaborate with GIS Analysts, Business Analysts, land managers, forestry and agriculture professionals, Product Owners, and technology teams to translate complex geospatial requirements into secure, reliable, and user-focused solutions.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain GIS web applications, geospatial services, and supporting data solutions.
  • Build and support integrations between ArcGIS platforms and enterprise systems, including land-information management, forest operations, reporting, and environmental or safety platforms.
  • Develop and maintain ArcGIS geoprocessing tools, Python/ArcPy automation, scheduled workflows, REST APIs, and reusable services for spatial processing and resource-management activities.
  • Create, publish, administer, and optimize ArcGIS map services, feature services, geoprocessing services, image services, mobile data services, and offline map packages.
  • Develop interactive mapping and responsive GIS applications using JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and the ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript, with appropriate authentication, authorization, and role-based access controls.
  • Support backend and full-stack development for GIS applications using modern APIs, web technologies, and enterprise integration patterns.
  • Manage and maintain enterprise geospatial datasets, parcel information, forest inventory, farmland and timberland boundaries, resource data, and related business attributes.
  • Support spatial editing workflows for harvesting, regeneration, dispositions, casualty loss, exclusion areas, acreage tracking, leases, inspections, and field operations.
  • Develop or support growth-and-yield modeling, forest-inventory analysis, spatial joins, overlays, and other geospatial analytics used in harvest planning and investment decisions.
  • Ensure spatial-data integrity and consistency across ArcGIS, enterprise geodatabases, integrated applications, and downstream reporting platforms through validation, verification, and reconciliation controls.
  • Write and optimize spatial SQL queries for Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL Managed Instance, including enterprise geodatabase administration, spatial indexing, reporting, migration, and domain management.
  • Develop and support big-data geospatial workflows using Databricks, PySpark, GeoPandas, Databricks Mosaic, ADLS Gen2, Delta Lake, and Parquet where applicable.
  • Develop solutions for mobile and offline field-data collection using ArcGIS Field Maps, Survey123, Collector, and custom field applications.
  • Support Azure Active Directory group synchronization, Single Sign-On, least-privilege access, ArcGIS Portal group governance, and periodic access reviews.
  • Participate in solution design, sprint planning, story refinement, estimation, testing, user acceptance, release activities, peer reviews, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues involving spatial data, map and feature services, application integrations, performance, valuations, reporting, and field workflows.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and cloud-based deployments using GitHub, Jenkins, Azure DevOps or Harness, Artifactory, and related DevSecOps practices.

Workplace:  This is a remote working position open to candidates in the provinces of Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia supporting Eastern timeznoe working hours.
