GIS Technician IIILocation: Birmingham, ALContract- 3 YearsClient- Alabama PowerJob SummaryWe are seeking an experienced GIS Technician III to lead and oversee technical GIS operations within our organization. This role requires a deep understanding of GIS tools, databases, and methodologies to ensure accurate data management, visualization, and analysis. The ideal candidate will take ownership of complex GIS projects, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with internal stakeholders to support strategic decision-making through high-quality geospatial solutions.

Key ResponsibilitiesOversee and manage day-to-day GIS technical operations. Lead complex GIS projects, from data acquisition and management to visualization and analysis.

Ensure optimal data accuracy, consistency, and compliance with GIS standards.

Mentor and support junior GIS technicians in technical and procedural tasks.

Engage with engineers, planners, and stakeholders to define GIS requirements and deliver actionable solutions.

Develop and implement GIS strategies that align with organizational goals.

Drive continuous improvement of GIS methodologies, tools, and workflows.

Manage and maintain GIS databases, ensuring data integrity and proper documentation.

Support data integration initiatives with other enterprise systems. QualificationsEducation: Bachelor's degree in Geographical Information Systems (GIS), Geospatial Science, or a related discipline.

Experience:

Minimum of 4+ years of hands-on GIS experience in data management, spatial analysis, and project coordination.

Technical Skills: Proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS Suite, ArcGIS Pro, and related GIS software.
