POSITION SUMMARY
The following job description details the scope of responsibility and specific requirements regarding the Public Works Technician. The Public Works Manager and/or Public Works Supervisor have the authority to add to, take from, or change the scope of responsibilities as necessary to properly manage the day-to-day operation of the Big Canoe Property Owners Association (POA).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Public Works Technician position requires one to keep the right of way clean or where needed. Individual must be able to work independently or in a team environment.
The Public Works Technician’s responsibility is to ensure all hand tools are kept in good working order
The Public Works Technician is responsible for garbage collection along Big Canoe POA’s right-of-way
The Public Works Technician must possess ability to shovel asphalt and/or use weed eater for an 8 (eight) hour shift and/or must be able to safely use chain saw for 8 (eight) hour shift
He/She must be willing to work with all other departments as needed
The Public Works Technician must be able to perform traffic control duties including sign and cone placement as well as flagman responsibilities associated with traffic control
Must be competent to understand written/oral instructions
Storage Yard operation
Borrow Pit upkeep/maintenance
Assist in Garage if assigned
Use proper PPE
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
High School Diploma or GED preferred
The Public Works Technician must have a history of being reliable and have a steady work performance
He/She must possess a clean MVR and valid driver’s license with the ability to drive in all types of weather and road conditions
Position requires Laborer to be competent to understand written/oral instruction from Public Works Supervisor and/or Department Manager
Provide excellent customer service to residents, co-workers and other departmental personnel
Continuing education a plus
SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Assist in other departments/areas when needed
Assist in storm clean-up
Assist in treatment and plowing of roads
Help maintain garbage facility (clean, unclog compactors)
Must be available for after-hours call-ins including holidays and weekends
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENT
Will be working outdoors (rain, snow, extreme heat/cold, etc.)
May encounter wildlife during daily duties
Long periods of standing, kneeling, bending twisting, etc
May be working from heights
Must be physically able to lift 50 lbs.
Must be at least 19 years old
Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.
Must be authorized to work in the US.
