You will support customers across the United States by managing and executing on-site field service activities for High Voltage Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) installations and lifecycle service projects. This is a US-based, customer-facing role working at utility, transmission, and industrial power facilities during construction, installation, testing, and commissioning phases. You will plan, supervise, and coordinate GIS field execution in live operating environments, balancing technical execution, safety, quality, and schedule requirements. The work centers on hands-on involvement with complex high voltage equipment ranging from 69kV through 550kV, frequent field inspections, technical testing, and on-site coordination with customers, subcontractors, and project teams. Through your presence in the field, you contribute directly to grid reliability, operational safety, and the successful delivery of high voltage substation infrastructure critical to the US power system.

How You'll Make an Impact

  • Plan, execute, and manage on-site installation, testing, and commissioning of High Voltage GIS equipment (69kV-550kV)

  • Serve as Hitachi Energy's on-site representative to customers, subcontractors, inspectors, and local stakeholders

  • Supervise field teams and subcontractors to support quality, productivity, schedule, and safe work execution

  • Oversee adherence to drawings, specifications, quality standards, and project requirements

  • Perform and document field testing, including SF6 leak detection, gas analysis, timing, power factor, and contact resistance testing

  • Conduct inspections to determine maintenance needs and required repairs, supporting resource planning decisions

  • Plan and participate in on-site progress meetings and coordinate daily field activities

  • Prepare clear, accurate field documentation, reports, and project records

  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background

  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in field service or construction management, preferably with substation, switchgear, or high voltage equipment (69kV-550kV)

  • Technical certificate or associate degree in an electrical or mechanical related field, or a combination of education and directly applicable experience

  • Experience supervising erection and testing activities for high voltage substations and equipment

  • Knowledge of safety procedures for working in energized, high voltage substations

  • Valid vehicle operator's permit and OSHA 10 training certification (or ability to acquire)

More About Us

You will gain exposure to advanced High Voltage GIS technology while working alongside experienced field teams supporting critical power infrastructure projects across the United States.

  • Opportunities to work on innovative technologies shaping the future of energy

  • A collaborative environment with experienced professionals across the US power industry

  • Access to learning platforms and career development programs

  • Attractive health and retirement benefits

  • Paid leave and flexible work arrangements
