Are you ready to be a key player in shaping the future of Lake Havasu City? Do you dream in blueprints and speak in code compliance? We're looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Engineering Technician to join our dynamic team and help us build this desert oasis, one project at a time!
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
You are the guardian of City standards! Your eagle eye will ensure that every new single-family home, sprawling commercial complex, and essential utility line meets our high standards for safety, quality, and community aesthetics.
  • Plan Examiner Extraordinaire: Dive into blueprints, grading plans, and utility permits, ensuring everything aligns perfectly with the City's ordinances.
  • Field Inspector: Get out of the office and into the action! You'll inspect residential and commercial offsite improvements (sidewalks, driveways, ramps) and utility work to ensure compliance.
  • GIS: Conduct field data collection and maintain city-owned GIS surveying equipment.
  • Code Communicator: Be the friendly, expert face of the Engineering division, providing technical assistance to engineers, contractors, real estate agents, and homeowners at the counter or over the phone.
  • Problem Solver: Identify plan defects, prepare correction reports, and collaborate with industry professionals to find smart solutions.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
You are a proactive team player with a passion for construction, infrastructure, and community development.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • An Associate/Technical degree AND considerable experience in general construction and infrastructure, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A valid Driver's License.
  • Ability to obtain National Incident Management Systems (NIMS) training (FEMA) upon hire.

  • General knowledge of basic construction, civil engineering principles, and utility operations.
  • Strong skill in mathematics, including geometry and statistics.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction plans, maps (especially GIS), and specifications.
