Make a difference with us at WestLand!WestLand is adding a full-time Crew Chief to our Southwest Cultural Resources team! The Archaeology Crew Chief assists the Field Director or Assistant Field Director in supervising field crews during cultural resources inventory surveys and data recovery excavations. Responsibilities include conducting small-scale surveys, artifact analysis, report preparation, and mentoring junior staff. This position requires strong leadership, knowledge of archaeological field methods, and the ability to work effectively with clients, agencies, and team members. The successful candidate would ideally be based out of Tucson, Arizona office. What will I be doing?Supervise small crews conducting cultural resources inventory surveys and data recovery excavations.Interact professionally with clients and agency personnel.Mentor and train inexperienced crew members in proper field techniques.Review crew paperwork for completeness and compliance with project requirements.Assist in determining National Register eligibility and significance of resource sites.Ensure project schedules and budgets are met.Conduct Class I background research prior to fieldwork.Perform small-scale cultural resources inventory surveys.Communicate field results to supervisors in a timely manner.Assist with writing draft reports and coordinate with GIS staff for figure production.Incorporate feedback from reviewers and editors to finalize reports.Work with analysts to learn artifact analysis procedures and methodologies.Assist in public presentations of project findings.Help develop PowerPoint presentations and present findings to various audiences.What qualifications are required for this role?Associates degree with a focus in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related field required. Bachelor's degree preferred.Minimum of one (1) year of archaeological field experience required.Experience in the applicable region preferred. Ability to work effectively as part of a team.Strong leadership, supervision, and mentoring skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with MS Access preferred.Strong public speaking and presentation skills.Ability to assist in writing and editing archaeological reports.Knowledge of archaeological field and laboratory methods.The wage range for this position is $26 - $30/hour.
