As of Jul 7, 2026, the average yearly pay for gips in the United States is $132,881.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $107,000.00 and $158,000.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are the most common challenges Gips (plasterers) face on job sites?

Gips often encounter challenges such as working on uneven surfaces, dealing with tight project deadlines, and coordinating tasks with other trades on construction sites. Weather conditions, particularly in outdoor or unfinished buildings, can also impact the application and drying of plaster. Additionally, achieving a high-quality, smooth finish on different surfaces can require problem-solving and adaptability. Plasterers often work as part of a team, so strong communication and time management skills help in overcoming these obstacles and ensuring projects are completed successfully.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Gips position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Gips (plasterer), you need hands-on skills in mixing and applying plaster, precision in finishing surfaces, and a solid understanding of construction requirements—typically acquired through vocational training or apprenticeship. Familiarity with tools such as trowels, hawks, plaster mixers, and the use of scaffolding or safety equipment is essential. Physical stamina, attention to detail, and teamwork are valuable soft skills in this field. These skills ensure durable, high-quality finishes and safe, efficient completion of projects in both residential and commercial settings.
