We are seeking an experienced Welding Engineer to provide technical leadership and oversight of our welding program. This role will be responsible for ensuring welding operations meet customer, industry, military, and regulatory requirements while driving improvements in quality, productivity, and efficiency.

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of welding procedures and qualifications, experience with welding codes and standards, and the ability to work closely with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Program Management, and Business Development teams.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and manage the company's overall welding program.
  • Develop, review, and maintain Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR).
  • Plan and coordinate welding procedure qualification testing.
  • Ensure welding procedures comply with AWS, ASME, NAVSEA, MIL-STD, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Conduct welding program audits and support customer and third-party audits.
  • Develop and administer welder qualification and certification programs.
  • Maintain welder continuity records, certifications, and qualification documentation.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for welding-related manufacturing issues.
  • Train and mentor welders and production personnel on welding procedures, workmanship standards, and best practices.
  • Participate in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews and new product development.
  • Support quoting and contract reviews by evaluating welding requirements and manufacturing feasibility.
  • Recommend welding processes, materials, equipment, and technologies.
  • Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Business Development to improve processes and support new business opportunities.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on welding quality, productivity, cost reduction, and throughput.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and root cause/corrective action initiatives.
  • Evaluate new welding technologies, automation, consumables, and equipment.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience in welding engineering, welding technology, manufacturing engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of welding processes, procedures, and qualification requirements.
  • Experience developing and maintaining WPS and PQR documentation.
  • Experience qualifying and certifying welders.
  • Working knowledge of applicable welding codes and standards such as AWS, ASME, NAVSEA, and MIL-STD.
  • Strong understanding of welding materials, processes, equipment, and manufacturing capabilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and welding specifications.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
