Headway Behavioral Center is seeking a dedicated and licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our dynamic team. This position offers a remote work setting, allowing you to provide essential mental health services from the comfort of your home while maintaining the accessibility and support that our patients deserve. Our office is open Monday through Friday, with a standard work schedule from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional evening shifts required based on patient needs. This flexibility fosters a work-life balance while ensuring that our patients receive timely care.

• Conduct thorough mental health assessments tailored to each client's unique needs, ensuring that you capture the nuances of aging, including cognitive and emotional changes.
• Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with patients, their families, and our team of geriatric psychiatrists, incorporating physical health, social factors, and existing support systems.
• Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including individual and family therapy, to address conditions like depression, anxiety, and dementia-related disorders.
• Engage actively in crisis intervention during mental health emergencies, utilizing your skills to provide immediate support and guidance.
• Facilitate patient and family education on mental health conditions, treatment choices, and community resources, empowering them to take an active role in care.
• Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in compliance with legal standards and ethical practices, ensuring the integrity of all documentation.
• Participate in collaborative team meetings, case consultations, and ongoing professional development, contributing to a culture of learning and improvement.
• Stay abreast of current research, evidence-based treatments, and advancements in the field of geriatric mental health to inform your practice.

In this role, you will primarily serve the geriatric population, focusing on addressing complex mental health concerns often seen in older adults. These may include adjustment disorders, anxiety, major depressive disorders, and dementia-related challenges. Your work will be pivotal in enhancing the quality of life for these patients, fostering their emotional well-being, and supporting their families throughout the therapeutic process.

• A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• A current and valid license as an LCSW, LPCC, or LMFT in California.
• Robust knowledge of geriatric mental health disorders and evidence-based treatment modalities.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct individual and family therapy, particularly with older adults facing mental health challenges.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, adopting a patient-centered and empathetic approach.
• Experience utilizing electronic health record (EHR) systems to document care accurately and efficiently.
• A collaborative mindset, ready to work as part of a multidisciplinary team focused on comprehensive patient care.

• A minimum of two years of post-licensure experience, particularly in outpatient mental health settings.
• Prior experience with geriatric populations and familiarity with age-related mental health issues.
• Skills in crisis intervention and experience managing emergencies within a geriatric context.

The annual salary for this position ranges from USD 115,000 to 130,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
