Job description
Location: Austin, Texas
Work Arrangement: Primarily On-site
Employment Type: Paid Internship
Internship Duration: 3 Months
Compensation: USD 3,000 per month
Potential Full-Time Salary: USD 50,000–100,000 per year, depending on the position, qualifications, experience, and performance
About the Company:
Our work focuses on agricultural technology, agricultural data services, market research, geospatial analysis, and related technology applications.
We are building an international and interdisciplinary team to explore practical applications of agricultural sensors, drones, satellite remote sensing, geographic information systems, and data analytics in U.S. and international agricultural projects.
Position Overview:
This is a multidisciplinary internship combining agricultural technology research, geospatial data analysis, project coordination, and business operations.
It is not a purely software-development or data-analysis position. The internship is designed for candidates interested in developing practical experience in agricultural technology while building skills in project coordination, technical research, data organization, communication, and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the planning, tracking, coordination, and periodic review of agricultural technology projects.
- Research agricultural sensors, Internet of Things devices, field-monitoring equipment, and agricultural data-collection solutions.
- Assist with research on drone applications in farm mapping, crop monitoring, land assessment, and agricultural data collection.
- Organize and analyze satellite imagery, remote-sensing data, and agricultural geospatial information.
- Use or learn GIS, data-visualization, and basic data-processing tools.
- Assist with analyses involving agricultural remote-sensing indicators, including NDVI, EVI, and NDMI.
- Support communication and project coordination with universities, research institutions, technology vendors, agricultural companies, and other project partners.
- Prepare project reports, research summaries, meeting notes, presentations, and supporting materials.
- Track developments in agricultural technology, drones, satellite systems, remote sensing, and geospatial information.
- Participate in occasional field visits to farms, agricultural facilities, or partner project sites when required.
- Perform other reasonable project-related duties consistent with the internship’s agricultural technology and project-coordination focus.
Qualifications:
- Current undergraduate or graduate student, or a recent graduate, in a relevant field.
- Preferred areas of study include Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural Technology, GIS, Remote Sensing, Geography, Environmental Science, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Engineering Management, or a related discipline.
- Strong interest in agricultural technology, drones, satellite remote sensing, GIS, data analytics, or technology project management.
- Strong learning ability, organizational skills, attention to detail, and project-execution mindset.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and communicate progress clearly.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, or similar productivity tools.
- Experience with Python, SQL, ArcGIS, QGIS, Google Earth Engine, data analytics, or remote-sensing software is preferred but not required.
- Strong English communication and professional writing skills.
- Chinese-language ability is a plus but is not required.
- Comfortable working in a collaborative, interdisciplinary, and entrepreneurial environment.
- Must be legally authorized to intern or work in the United States.
Compensation and Full-Time Opportunity:
This is a paid, three-month internship with compensation of USD 3,000 per month.
Successful completion of the internship does not guarantee continued employment. However, high-performing interns may be considered for conversion to a full-time position based on:
- Individual performance;
- Business needs;
- Availability of a suitable position;
- Relevant skills and experience; and
- Continued work authorization.
The anticipated base salary range for eligible full-time positions is USD 50,000–100,000 per year. The actual position, responsibilities, and compensation will depend on the candidate’s performance, qualifications, experience, and the company’s business needs at the time of conversion.
What you will Gain:
- Hands-on exposure to agricultural sensors, drones, satellite remote sensing, GIS, and agricultural data projects.
- Experience supporting practical agricultural technology and project-development activities.
- Development in project coordination, technical research, data analysis, reporting, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Opportunities to support communication with universities, research institutions, agricultural companies, technology vendors, and other partners.
- Consideration for the company’s long-term talent-development program and future full-time opportunities based on performance and business needs.
