Job Title: GIS Analyst / GIS Application Developer
Contract Duration: 12 months, possible extension
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Work Arrangement: Hybrid
Pay Range: $46-$48/hour
Summary
The GIS Analyst / GIS Application Developer will support the data of governance by developing, maintaining, and supporting GIS applications used to manage transportation assets across the state. This role combines GIS development, Enterprise GIS support, Python scripting, data governance, troubleshooting, and customer support to deliver geospatial solutions for business users and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance GIS applications, web maps, dashboards, and geospatial solutions.
  • Create and manage feature classes, related tables, map services, and geospatial databases.
  • Support Enterprise GIS environments, including ArcGIS Enterprise, Portal, and Server.
  • Develop Python scripts to automate GIS workflows, data updates, reporting, and quality control processes.
  • Perform GIS data management, validation, quality assurance, and governance activities.
  • Create technical documentation, data models, requirements specifications, and support materials.
  • Troubleshoot GIS application issues and provide technical support to end users.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate operational needs into technical GIS solutions.

Required Skills
  • Experience with GIS platforms and GIS application development.
  • Experience creating and maintaining feature classes, related tables, map services, and web mapping applications.
  • Knowledge of Enterprise GIS environments and GIS data governance practices.
  • Experience with Python scripting and GIS automation.
  • Experience working with ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Server, Portal, and related ESRI technologies.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Skills
  • Experience with geospatial databases and SQL.
  • Experience supporting transportation, infrastructure, or asset management programs.
  • Knowledge of GIS dashboards, web application development, and data integration.
  • Experience with technical documentation and requirements gathering.

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years of GIS analysis, GIS development, or Enterprise GIS support experience.
  • Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise and Python preferred.
