Geologist
Paducah, Kentucky
Salary range starts at $58,000
Bring your field expertise and geological insight to projects that shape communities. In this role, you'll lead subsurface investigations for engineering and construction projects, provide technical leadership and mentoring, and partner with engineers, clients, and drilling crews to deliver high-quality results-safely and efficiently.
You'll own field execution and interpretation-planning and leading investigations, supervising drilling activities, developing geological models, and contributing to project delivery and client relationships.
Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities
  • Plan and lead subsurface exploration programs for geotechnical projects (drilling, test pits, and geophysical surveys), including site assessments and geologic mapping.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.
  • Collect, log, and interpret soil, rock, and groundwater data; maintain clear, detailed field documentation.
  • Supervise drilling crews and coordinate field logistics (staffing, schedules, equipment utilization, and maintenance needs).
  • Troubleshoot field challenges (drilling conditions, sampling constraints, and subsurface variability) and drive timely resolution.
  • Develop subsurface geological models and deliver quality project outputs (boring logs, cross-sections, and reports) in collaboration with engineers, clients, and internal teams.

Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Geology or Geological Engineering (required).
  • Valid driver's license in your state of residence (required).
  • Professional Geologist (PG) or Registered Geologist (RG) license (preferred).
  • Experience with geotechnical/geological software (preferred).
  • Experience conducting Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, including environmental boring logging and soil and groundwater sampling, preferred.

Work environment & travel
This position is field-forward and includes outdoor work in varying weather and site conditions. Travel to project sites and occasional extended field days should be expected.
