Job description

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for a SUE Technician opening in our Rochester, Buffalo, Syracuse, or Ithaca, NY office. LaBella fosters a team-oriented atmosphere and emphasizes unparalleled client services. As a SUE Project Manager for LaBella, you will assist with all SUE activities for land surveying and multi-disciplinary projects. You will be integral to the safe and accurate identification, mapping, and surveying of utility systems. You'll have the chance to lead daily field operations, working alongside a skilled team of technicians, engineers, and surveyors.
Duties:
  • Operate and maintain SUE utility locating and designating equipment (electromagnetic induction and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) to accurately identify and map subsurface utilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret utility prints, design plans, and map utility infrastructure.
  • Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and experience managing field crews.
  • Assist with the day-to-day operations of the field and office Team on a variety of SUE projects.
  • Participate in weekly scheduling and coordination meetings with the project team.
  • Prepare detailed, accurate daily reports, field sketches, and forms both electronically and by hand.
  • Assist with the QA/QC of final SUE deliverables.
  • Represents the land survey group on multi-discipline project teams.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines to identify opportunities for SUE services.
  • Ensures maintenance of existing technology.
  • Manages archiving of records.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • AAS or BS degree in a technology discipline such as land surveying, engineering, geology, forestry, or landscape architecture.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in equal or related position of responsibility demonstrating past management experience, utility design and coordination.
  • Previous SUE experience in an engineering design environment.
  • Knowledge of utility designation, records research, and field operations documentation.
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of land surveying systems, procedures & technology.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, Carlson and Inroads software is a plus.
  • Self-motivated, self-starter with the ability to work in a team environment and independently.
  • Maintain a current driver's license in good standing and able to operate company owned vehicles.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed.
  • Experience with DOT, municipal, or public utility projects.
  • OSHA Safety certifications are a plus.

Salary Range: $24.00 - $30.00 an hour
The specific salary offered may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location.
