The Lincoln County Surveyor's Office is currently looking for a Cadastral Surveyor to join their team. This person will perform professional and supervisory work using knowledge of Cadastral and Geodetic surveying in a variety of land survey assignments. This role is also responsible for reviewing surveys, partition plats, and subdivisions under ORS 209 and 92.
Also establishing and reviewing Government Corners, maintaining County Geodetic Control Network, and researching records and documents. $78,009.00 - $104,836.00 annually* *Lincoln County follows Oregon Pay Equity laws in reviewing education and experience for wage offer. Supervise field observations and field and office calculations necessary to generate azimuth marks. Supervise office and field research and apply professional judgement necessary to locate, evaluate and monument original Public Land Survey System corners. Design topographic surveys suitable for engineering work.
Assist County Surveyor in developing corner preservation program. Review surveys, partition plats, subdivisions, and condos under ORS 209.250 and 92. Utilize Global Navigation Satellite System in the design and implementation Geodetic Control Network, including establishing control monuments, organization of field personnel and equipment, and operating satellite surveying equipment: Operate a variety of survey equipment, i.e
total station, GNSS Receiver, etc. to traverse section lines, run levels, reference and monument corners, and perform control traverses. Operate survey related software for calculations and generation of survey plats (CAD).
Maintain accurate notes and documentation on all projects and activities. Research property records, deeds, maps, surveys, field notes and information kept in Surveyor's Office, Clerk's Office, Assessor's Office, Road Department, timber companies and other governmental agencies such as BLM, BPA, Oregon State Forestry, for pertinent information relevant to on-going survey projects. Respond to questions from the public regarding professional and technical survey topics: Render "Professional Opinion" on land records, provides interpretation of laws and regulations.
May deal with irate and distraught individuals at times. Typical Qualifications EDUCATION Bachelors with major courses in Surveying, Geomatics, Forestry Engineering, or similar Surveying field. EXPERIENCE Four-Five years of survey experience Will review any satisfactory combination of education, course work, experience, and training as required for licensure as a professional land surveyor in Oregon.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES Professional Land Surveyor licensed in Oregon. Oregon Driver's License required within 30 days of hire. Desirable Qualifications: CWRE, CFEDS, and FAA part 107 certifications preferred.
Knowledge of/Ability to: Extensive knowledge of Oregon State Plan Coordinate System. Extensive knowledge of Public Land Survey System. Extensive knowledge of cadastral and geodetic surveying principles.
Statutory and common law applicable to surveying. Survey records, record organization, and history. Cursive writing (1800s style to present).
Use field and office surveying instruments and CAD drafting. Complete topographic surveys. Conduct research and write legal descriptions.
Read construction plans and related materials. Operate hand and power tools; excavate soil, pavement, and concrete; 4x4 driving; and move equipment over rough terrain.
