UW Health is seeking a Clinical Lab Assistant for a job in Madison, Wisconsin.

Work Schedule:

This is a part-time, 80% FTE, 1st shift position. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, varying start times between 7:45 AM and 9:00 AM, 8-hour shifts. Hours may vary based on department needs. You will float to the UW Health Clinics.

Pay:

  • External hires may be eligible for up to a $2,000 sign on bonus
  • Additional compensation components may include: float differential

We are seeking a Lab Assistant – Float to: 

  • Perform standardized and specialized phlebotomy procedures on patients of all ages and ensure proper patient identification and specimen labeling. 
  • Complete specimen receiving and processing, load them onto instruments or perform the kit testing, and associated instrument maintenance (temperatures, monitoring reagents) and clerical duties (filing, mailing, faxing). 
  • Patient check-in and order entry of laboratory tests in the laboratory information system.
  • Interact daily with pathologists, physicians, technologists, clinical staff, nursing unit personnel, and patients.

Education:

Minimum – High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred – Completion of accredited Phlebotomy Training program and clinical rotation

Work Experience:

Minimum – Six Months of Phlebotomy and Specimen Processing Experience

Preferred – One year of experience in phlebotomy and processing

Certifications:

Preferred – Phlebotomist (American Society for Clinical Pathology) or equivalent or Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) certification (American Society for Clinical Pathology) or equivalent
