Job description

Job Summary:

The Specimen Processor is responsible for receiving, verifying, and preparing patient samples for laboratory testing. This role ensures accurate data entry, proper sample handling, and timely processing to support efficient lab operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Receive, sort, and accession incoming specimens into the laboratory system
  • Verify patient information, labeling, and specimen integrity prior to processing
  • Perform data entry of patient demographics and test orders with a high level of accuracy
  • Prepare specimens for testing, including centrifugation, aliquoting, and labeling as needed
  • Route specimens to appropriate departments or storage locations for testing
  • Identify and escalate specimen discrepancies or issues that may impact testing
  • Maintain organization of samples and ensure proper storage and tracking
  • Follow laboratory safety guidelines and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Communicate effectively with lab staff to prioritize and manage workflow

This is a Contract position based out of Boston, MA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
