What does a genetic counselor assistant do?

As a genetic counselor assistant, your responsibilities are to provide support to a genetic counselor, perform numerous administrative and clerical duties, and interact with the counseling office’s patients and families to get a medical history and provide them with more information about the services and procedures at the clinic. Your clerical work includes organizing medical information and forms, filling out insurance billing paperwork, and scheduling patient appointments. You may also help genetic counselors to test new products or ensure that equipment and best practices are up to date.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a genetic counselor assistant, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Genetic Counselor Assistant, you need a background in biology or related sciences, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills, often supported by a bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
