Job description

JOB TITLE: GENERATOR TECHNICIAN III PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Generator Technician position supports the branch, and client, in all Generator maintenance, installation, and repair needs. This position ensures that all rental generator equipment maintenance and repair needs of the branch is conducted in an efficient, accurate, and timely manner. This role provides a great opportunity to learn and grow within our service department and beyond. PRIMARY DUTIES:
  • Performs maintenance, testing, and repairs of generator systems and equipment in both the shop and in the field according to Company standards, meeting local, state, and federal regulations
  • Act as a liaison between customers, third-party vendors, and other departments of the branch, to ensure customer expectations are met and exceeded in terms of rental equipment maintenance and repair
  • Trouble shoot all generator systems and equipment, both in person and over the phone, for most efficient way to get equipment back online with customers and other technicians
  • Respond to service calls in a timely manner
  • Maintain professional and ethical business relationships with all customers and co-workers following the established company policies and procedures
  • Produce all required service tickets and/or documentation accurately, completely, and in a timely manner
  • Communicates with the team for ordering and stocking of needed parts, equipment, and accessories
  • Communicates with team for coordinating delivery and pickup of parts, equipment, and accessories
  • Foster good working relationships with clients and team members by training on parts, equipment, and accessories
  • Be an ambassador for safety, making sure all work is done in the safest manner
  • Continuous growth of knowledge for all Company products, inventory, and delivery capabilities
  • Assist with stocking, pick-up, and delivery of all parts, equipment, and accessories
  • Maintain a clean work environment
  • Performs other tasks and duties as assigned by Management
EDUCATION & SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Preferably have an Associate or technical degree in diesel mechanics, power generation, or related field
  • Must be mechanically inclined with 5 years of experience in generator maintenance, installation, and repair
  • Must have strong understanding of electrical systems and diesel engines
  • Must be able to travel locally and regionally
  • Must be able to work independently, and in a team environment, to prioritize and accomplish assigned projects
  • Must be detail oriented and organized with ability to multi-task and work on many different projects at one time
  • Must have a valid state driver's license with a moderately clean driving record
  • Must be able to stand, sit, and kneel for long periods of time in all weather conditions
  • Must be able to frequently lift 50+ lbs.
