Job description

Yeshiva Torat Emet is seeking General Studies Principal (GSP) for the 2026-2027 school year. As a senior member of the schoolโ€™s administrative team, the GSP will work with our current Assistant General Studies Principal and other members of the administrative team to provide an outstanding educational experience for our students. The GSP will have a strong presence around the school, voicing school policies and with the school community. The GSP will lead by building strong connections with individual students, parents, and faculty, and working collaboratively with these constituencies to further YTEโ€™s mission.

The ideal candidate will possess (i) Outstanding interpersonal and supervisory skills for interacting with students, staff, parents, and peers, (ii) Excellent administrative/technological skills, (iii) An advanced degree in education from an accredited university, (iv) Experience in school administration, (v) Thorough knowledge of curricula. Familiarity with yeshiva day school education is advantageous but not required.

Key Responsibilities

Instructional Leadership

  • Review, assess, and update the General Studies curriculum to maintain rigor, relevance, and alignment with YTEโ€™s educational goals.

  • Provide ongoing oversight to ensure that teachers effectively implement the approved curriculum.

  • Introduce innovative programs, tools, and instructional methods that enhance teaching and learning.

  • Oversee report cards, progress reports, and academic assessments to ensure consistent quality and accuracy.

Faculty Development & Supervision

  • Recruit, interview, and hire General Studies faculty in partnership with the Head of School.

  • Support, mentor, and evaluate teachers through regular classroom observations and feedback.

  • Assist in planning and implementing professional development sessions tailored to staff needs.

  • Work collaboratively with the office manager to coordinate substitute teacher placement.

Student Life & Discipline

  • Oversee student life and discipline for grades 1โ€“4, ensuring a positive, respectful, and growth-oriented environment.

  • Supervise daily school dismissal and uphold student and faculty dress code standards.

  • Assist in assessing new students and determining appropriate academic placement.

Parent & Community Relations

  • Serve as a point of contact for parents with questions or concerns related to the General Studies program.

  • Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress, classroom expectations, and school-wide initiatives.

Administrative Leadership

  • Collaborate with school leadership on strategic initiatives, scheduling, and policy implementation.

  • Procure textbooks, classroom materials, and instructional resources as needed.

  • Plan and oversee special projects, events, and school-wide programs that enrich the educational experience.

  • Participate as an active member of the school leadership team, contributing to overall school improvement.
