Job description

We're looking for a proven relationship builder who is ready to take the next step in their career by leading an entire business.

As General Manager, you'll be responsible for growing one of the Bay Area's premier tree care companies by building trusted relationships with high-net-worth homeowners, estate managers, property managers, landscape architects, builders, and other influential referral partners. You'll be the face of the business in the market, creating new opportunities while ensuring every client receives an exceptional experience.

You'll also lead the business. Reporting to the Regional President, you'll have responsibility for financial performance, operational execution, team development, and long-term strategy. You'll lead a team of sales, operations, and administrative professionals while maintaining direct involvement in relationships and opportunities that fuel growth.

This role is ideal for someone who has built a successful career selling premium services to discerning clients and is ready to move beyond leading sales into full business leadership. If you're energized by building relationships, growing a business, developing people, and being rewarded for results, we'd love to meet you.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Relationship Management & Business Development

· Own the growth strategy for the business by identifying new opportunities and expanding our presence throughout the Bay Area's luxury residential market.

· Build and maintain trusted relationships with high-net-worth homeowners, estate managers, property managers, landscape architects, architects, builders, designers, and other strategic referral partners.

· Leverage your existing professional network while continuously developing new relationships that generate long-term business opportunities.

· Become a recognized and trusted resource within the luxury residential community through consistent networking, community involvement, and exceptional client service.

· Personally cultivate, negotiate, and help close high-value opportunities while partnering with the sales team to ensure successful execution.

· Expand existing client relationships by identifying additional services and long-term partnership opportunities.

· Partner with the Regional President and leadership team to develop strategies that increase market share, strengthen brand awareness, and support sustainable growth.

· Represent the company at industry events, community organizations, networking functions, and client engagements.

· Ensure every client receives a responsive and consultative experience from the first conversation through project completion.

· Collaborate closely with operations and sales to ensure commitments made to clients are executed with excellence.

Strategic Leadership & Operational Management

· Lead all aspects of the business with accountability for operational performance, financial results, and client satisfaction.

· Establish clear priorities and align the team around business objectives that support long-term growth.

· Develop systems, processes, and operating rhythms that improve efficiency, scalability, and consistency across the organization.

· Monitor key business metrics, identify trends, and proactively address opportunities or challenges before they impact performance.

· Ensure operational execution consistently reflects the quality and professionalism expected by our clients.

· Foster collaboration between operations, sales, and administrative teams to deliver an exceptional customer experience.

· Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations, company policies, and industry standards.

Team Leadership & Culture Development

· Recruit, coach, and develop a high-performing leadership team across sales, operations, and administration.

· Create a culture where accountability, collaboration, safety, and exceptional client service are the standard.

· Set clear performance expectations and provide regular coaching and feedback that supports individual growth.

· Empower team members to make decisions, solve problems, and continuously improve how the business operates.

· Lead organizational change with transparency while building trust and engagement across the team.

· Recognize and develop future leaders to strengthen the long-term success of the business.

Financial Performance & Accountability

· Own the financial performance of the business, including revenue growth, profitability, and EBITDA performance.

· Develop annual operating plans, budgets, and forecasts that support strategic objectives.

· Monitor financial and operational KPIs, using data to guide decisions and improve business performance.

· Partner with the Regional President to identify opportunities to improve margins, optimize pricing, and increase operational efficiency.

· Review business performance regularly and implement action plans to capitalize on opportunities or address performance gaps.

· Support contract negotiations and significant client agreements as needed.

Quality Assurance & Safety Leadership

· Champion a culture where safety and quality are fundamental to how we operate every day.

· Ensure work consistently meets company standards and exceeds client expectations.

· Conduct regular reviews of operational performance, job quality, and customer satisfaction.

· Promote continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to strengthen service delivery, operational excellence, and team performance.

· Ensure compliance with all company safety programs, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

Qualifications

· Seven or more years of progressive leadership experience in business development, sales leadership, operations, or general management within a relationship-driven industry such as luxury residential services, construction, landscaping, hospitality, property management, architecture, or other premium service businesses.

· Demonstrated success building trusted relationships with high-net-worth clients, professional referral partners, or luxury residential markets.

· A proven ability to grow a business through networking, relationship development, and consultative selling.

· Experience leading cross-functional teams with accountability for financial performance and business results.

· Strong business acumen, with experience managing budgets, interpreting financial results, and using KPIs to drive performance.

· Exceptional communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills with the confidence to represent the business in executive and client settings.

· Experience working with CRM platforms and business reporting tools.

· Tree care, landscaping, arboriculture, or related industry experience is preferred but not required.

· Experience serving high-net-worth clientele is strongly preferred.

· ISA Certified Arborist certification is a plus.
