Maintenance Mechanic- Operations & Maintenance
City: Fort Wayne
Job Description:
Join Purdue University Fort Wayne:
We are currently seeking two, full-time, onsite Maintenance Mechanics in our Operations and Maintenance department. This position performs general maintenance and repairs buildings and equipment. The hourly pay is $18.50.
Responsibilities:
  • Respond to and prioritize daily work orders from campus service requests that are submitted.
  • Repair and replace plumbing fixtures including faucets, urinals, etc.
  • Repair, replace, and install lighting fixtures, bulbs, etc.
  • Convert lighting fixtures to LED.
  • Repair, lubricate, and adjust door hardware, hinges, closures, etc.
  • Hang, mount, and fasten items, equipment, furniture, etc.
  • Diagnose and investigate leaks.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks on building equipment.
  • Daily walk through of assigned building(s) and mechanical spaces.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • A High School Diploma or GED.
  • 3 years of general building maintenance experience.
  • Good mechanical aptitude.
  • The ability to move, lift, carry, push and pull 25 to 50 pounds frequently, up to 60 pounds occasionally.
  • The ability to work at various heights on ladder, bucket trucks, etc.
  • This position requires a valid driver's license and the ability to successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check.
  • Rotating weekends.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Mechanical, electrical, plumbing and preventive maintenance experience.
  • Commercial or industrial experience.
