Job description

The General Ledger Accountant will play a vital role in delivering accurate fiscal results for a fast-growing furniture retailer located in Manchester, CT. The GL Accountant is a key part of the finance group and an important partner supporting business operations. This role will allow for exposure to many different areas of the business and partnerships with the full GL team as well as some business operators. The GL Accountant will be responsible for monthly close activities as well as a variety of analyses and mid-month functions to support business activities. We are helping to drive decision-making in a growing business, and we are always looking for new and better ways to perform our functions.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the GL team and business partners to ensure that the financial results are completed in an accurate and timely manner
  • Preparation and posting of properly supported journal entries and monthly account reconciliations
  • Daily banking and funding process ownership
  • Key player in our fixed asset accounting system administration and capital accounting
  • Report development and distribution
  • Partner with the GL team to support internal needs, and also to gain exposure to departments outside of GL
  • Opportunity for departmental ownership including direct relationship with business partners and their P&L results
  • Help to drive an efficient fiscal close including identification and implementation of process improvements
  • External audit support
  • Assist with controls compliance by ensuring that accounting procedures are consistent with a strong control environment
  • Data and results analysis and tie out
  • Ad-hoc projects as required
