Position Summary

Reporting to the Lead, the general laborer will be responsible for completing a variety of tasks within the department. The General Laborer should act proactively to ensure smooth and effective operations and report issues to leadership immediately.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to work independently, read and interpret safety instructions and procedure manuals. Ideal candidate must be willing to walk and stand up to 10 hours per day, occasionally push, pull, and lift up-to 50 pounds. Must be dependable, a team player and have good communication skills and wear PPE specific to position.

Position Responsibilities

  • Analyze finished product and add product back to line flow as directed.
  • Clean equipment and assist in mill clean-up and/or sanitation as required.
  • Fill totes from dryer to the desired fill weight and label the completed product
  • Closely observe the roller mill ensuring that it is shut down or turned on when needed.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary appearance of self and facility
  • Ensure all areas are kept clean and equipment is cleaned according to the schedule
  • Ensure foreign material and product that doesn’t meet quality standards is removed from inspection lines.
  • Assist in dryer cleanups and daily cleanings
  • Frequently monitor machinery to ensure it is operating properly; if not running notify lead/supervisor.
  • Keep tools, hoses and other equipment hung up and stored properly when not in use
  • Safety orientated with the ability to recognize and correct safety issues
  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures including but not limited to: Lock out/Tag out procedure
  • Assist in other departments as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Work Environment 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, onion fumes or airborne particles, wet conditions, occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; moderate cold; moderate heat. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
