A financially strong, internationally operating insurance organization is seeking a General Counsel to serve as a senior legal, governance, and compliance leader across its life and health insurance businesses in the U.S., Puerto Rico, and Latin America. This is a career-defining role for a seasoned insurance attorney who wants real influence, and international scope.

Broad authority across legal operations, compliance, governance, and international subsidiaries.

Leadership over multiple Latin American jurisdictions.

Hands‑on involvement in product development, regulatory strategy, and enterprise risk.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The General Counsel will operate as a trusted advisor to the Board of Directors, and senior leadership.

Lead legal counsel for international life and health products, including policy wordings, endorsements, riders, and regulatory filings.

Negotiate and standardize distribution, TPA, MGA, provider, and vendor agreements.

Oversee marketing approvals, complaints, and appeals across jurisdictions.

Ensure regulatory readiness and compliance across international markets.

Oversee subsidiary governance, licensing, and statutory compliance.

Lead compliance risk assessments for new products and initiatives.

Supervise in‑house counsels in Ecuador, Colombia, Guatemala, Costa Rica, and the Dominican Republic.

Ensure consistency, best practices, and group‑wide legal standards.

Review and elevate material legal, compliance, and litigation matters.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

JD from an accredited U.S. law school; active U.S. bar admission.

10+ years of insurance legal experience.

Life & health insurance products and operations.

Corporate governance and Board support.

Enterprise compliance program leadership.

Experience overseeing international insurance operations, ideally across Latin America.

Proven ability to operate confidently with Boards, regulators, and senior executives.
