About the Position

Our client is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through final closeout. This individual will be responsible for delivering projects safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards while serving as the primary point of contact for clients, subcontractors, and project teams.

The Project Manager will oversee every phase of project execution, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, procurement, contract administration, forecasting, risk management, and team leadership. This role requires a proactive leader who can balance technical expertise with strong business acumen to maximize project performance and build lasting client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through commissioning and closeout.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, cash flow projections, and cost forecasts.
  • Monitor project financial performance and implement corrective actions to maintain profitability.
  • Review owner contracts and administer subcontracts, purchase orders, and vendor agreements.
  • Lead project planning meetings, coordination efforts, and jobsite progress reviews.
  • Prepare and manage RFIs, change orders, contract documentation, and project correspondence.
  • Coordinate with field leadership, engineering teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients throughout project execution.
  • Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize schedule and financial impacts.
  • Support commissioning activities and successful project turnover.
  • Mentor and develop Project Engineers and other project staff while fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Build strong relationships with owners, architects, engineers, general contractors, and trade partners to promote repeat business opportunities.
  • Participate in business development efforts, project pursuits, and strategic planning initiatives.
  • Promote LEAN construction principles and continuous improvement throughout project delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety programs, labor requirements, contractual obligations, and company policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of project management experience in mechanical construction with a bachelor's degree, or
  • 7-10+ years of progressive experience managing mechanical construction projects.
  • Demonstrated success managing projects from planning through completion.
  • Strong background in commercial or industrial mechanical construction.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with commissioning, BIM coordination, and preconstruction activities.
  • Experience negotiating contracts, subcontracts, and change orders.
  • Expertise in contract administration and construction project documentation.
  • Proven ability to resolve complex project challenges while maintaining positive client relationships.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Strong understanding of construction technology, ERP/accounting systems, Microsoft Office Suite, project management software, and BIM platforms.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
