Job description

OverviewThe Gene Expression franchise is a large, core business, supporting a diverse customer base and range of applications in multiple market segments. The Director, Product Management for Gene Expression will be responsible for platforms and consumables portfolios and accountable for the annual and long-term financial performance of the business. In addition to directing the product management team, the Director will work across organization functions to both define and prioritize new product development projects across the portfolio. The Director will work in collaboration with Marketing Communications, Commercial Marketing and Global Commercial functions to ensure portfolio success through execution of go-to-market strategies that align to our target markets and customer segments. The position is based in Hercules, California and reports to the Vice President, Marketing.How You'll Make An Impact: 
  • Responsible for leading a team of product managers to meet annual, global fiscal targets and business goals. 
  • Accountable for setting and communicating strategy, managing the on-market business and driving new product development through categorization and prioritization of project across the portfolio. 
  • Ensuring commercial alignment to pricing strategies, long term and annual revenue plans though communication and alignment with Life Science Business and Commercial leadership. 
  • Directing the focus of voice-of-customer and greater market research initiatives on product development priorities that lead to actionable work for new product development, product positioning and creation of sales enablement tools. 
  • Ability to lead, direct, influence and empower cross functional teams and individuals through the product development process, ensuring balance between time to market and market viability. 
  • Ability to work with Business Development and Corporate Development to manage inorganic growth and partnership opportunities. 
  • Working with the Market Development team and across the organization to prioritize and support activities directed to driving utility of on market products for emerging applications. 
  • Ability to successfully interface with senior management (within and external to company).
What You Bring: 
  • Education: Advanced degree in molecular biology or equivalent experience, MBA a plus. 
  • Work Experience: A minimum of 10+ years product management in life science and/or clinical diagnostics with direct involvement in defining and directing product development activities. 
  • Minimum of 3 years of direct employee management experience. 
  • Demonstrated history of successfully developing and managing products in the life science, ideally with focus on single cell and/or antibody discovery. 
  • Deep knowledge and experience supporting and marketing to Biopharma, Contract Research and Contract Development and Manufacturing market segments. 
  • Must have a professional manner and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. 
  • Requires demonstrated planning/organizational and analytical skills. 
  • Executes sound judgment, analyzes issues, thinks strategically, creatively, and uses innovative ideas. 
  • Demonstrates exceptional problem solving, decision-making, conflict management, change management and negotiating skills. 
  • Strong public speaking skills needed to represent corporation at external meetings, conferences and organizations.
Location: This position must be based in Hercules, California and requires the employee to be located within commuting distance of the office.

Compensation: The estimated base salary range for this position is $207,800 to $281,600 at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors. This position is eligible for a variable annual bonus, which is dependent upon achievement of your individual objectives and Company performance.
