Job Description Summary
The GE Aerospace Chief Consulting Engineer - Power Generation leads projects and initiatives in the US Electrical Power product area with broad scope and high impact to the business. In this role you will be responsible for major assignments with long-term business implications, managing complex issues within power generation functional area (s) of expertise, and contributing to the overall business strategy. Job Description
Responsibilities:
You will:
  • Provide technical consultation and leadership for the US Electrical Power life cycle, acting as the highest technical authority for power generation-related decisions within the Electrical Power domain; Power generation domain primarily covers aerospace class electric machines (Wound Field synchronous, Permanent Magnet, Induction and other types in kW to MW range, 115 Vac to 2000+ Vac class)
  • Provide technical leadership in design reviews and relevant design boards to drive industry leading power generation solutions in our product portfolio
  • Represent the Chief Engineer's Office in matters related to power generation design excellence through design practices, technical reviews, and best practices
  • Currently with aerospace industry, academia and regulatory initiatives to ensure state of the art competitiveness
  • Provide technical mentoring to the global Controlled Titled Holder community and pipeline, and coaching and guidance to engineers in day-to-day activities
  • Lead the Power Generation functional element of the Competency Model Framework and Key Technology Areas to build technical competencies across the product area
  • Coordinate with other CCEs in product and functional domain on effective strategies within the Chief Engineer's Office
  • Lead Chief Engineer's Office initiatives to improve engineering process and performance
  • Provide leadership, experience and knowledge to help proactively identify and solve technical problems
  • Promotes the documentation of lessons learned and their subsequent translation to effective improvement actions within the organization
  • Champion the proliferation of FLIGHT DECK through the organization

Essential Qualifications:
  • Technical degree in Engineering
  • At least 15 years of experience in generation technologies related to Electrical Power product development
  • Demonstrated expertise and experience in power generation architecture, high power, high voltage and high-altitude generator systems, generator design, development, modeling and simulation, integration with power converters, knowledge of machine electromagnetic design, thermal and oil system design, mechanical dynamics, test and integration.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally, as required
  • Knowledge and experience of commercial & military aerospace systems practices and associated industry standards, policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of and passion for FLIGHT DECK, and the ability to drive this successfully in the organization
  • Competency in the fundamentals of the Electrical Power product area

  • Master's degree in relevant discipline is preferred
