Commercial Drywall Estimator

Solid Rock Recruiting LLC

York, PA

Full-time

Medical, Retirement, PTO

Posted 21 days ago

Job description

Solid Rock Recruiting- The #1 Commercial Drywall Recruiting Firm in the USA
Commercial Drywall Estimator

Location: York, PA
Work Style: In-office (local candidates only)
Territory: Central PA with limited MD travel (within ~2–2.5 hours)

Solid Rock Recruiting is hiring on behalf of a well-established commercial drywall contractor seeking an In-House Drywall Estimator. This is a long-term opportunity for someone who wants more than just a desk role—someone who enjoys estimating, communicating with GCs, and being connected to the field.

This position is ideal for an estimator who wants to grow with a company, build relationships, and eventually step into greater responsibility.

The Role

This is not a heads-down-only estimating position.

The right person will handle commercial drywall takeoffs while also:

  • Following up on bids

  • Talking with general contractors

  • Visiting jobsites

  • Working closely with ownership and operations

You’ll be trusted to wear multiple hats and contribute to the company’s long-term growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare commercial drywall estimates (80–90% commercial)

  • Perform takeoffs using On-Screen Takeoff & QuickBid (preferred)

  • Estimate projects typically ranging from $250K–$650K

  • Occasionally support larger projects (up to ~$2M)

  • Follow up with GCs to sell and clarify bids

  • Visit jobsites to improve estimating accuracy and productivity

  • Build relationships with field teams and contractors

  • Collaborate directly with ownership and operations

  • No formal project management responsibilities

Project Types
  • Commercial interior fit-outs

  • Metal framing and drywall

  • Office and commercial buildings

Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Early-to-mid career mindset preferred (growth-oriented)

  • Some construction or field exposure is a plus

  • Estimating experience preferred, but not required to be “perfect”

  • Coachable, team-oriented, and motivated

  • Comfortable communicating with GCs and visiting jobsites

This is not a fit if you are:

  • Looking for a remote role

  • Rigid or resistant to learning

  • Only interested in senior-level autonomy with no collaboration

Experience Guidelines (Flexible)
  • 0–2 years: Entry-level / investment hire possible

  • 3–5 years: Ideal range

  • Drywall & metal framing experience is a strong plus

  • On-Screen Takeoff & QuickBid experience is a major advantage

Compensation & Benefits

Salary (based on experience):

Bonus potential based on performance and contribution
Benefits include:

  • Health insurance

  • PTO and holidays

  • 401(k) with company match

  • Strong retention-focused culture

Why This Opportunity
  • Family-style, people-first culture

  • Employees treated as individuals—not numbers

  • Stable, established company (in business since 1997)

  • ~$20M annual revenue

  • Long-term growth and leadership potential

  • Ownership values loyalty, longevity, and internal development

Requirements (Non-Negotiable)
  • Must be local and able to work in-office

  • Must be open to jobsite visits

  • Must be comfortable interacting with general contractors

  • Open-shop (non-union) environment

This Role Is Great For:
  • Assistant estimators ready to step up

  • Project engineers with estimating exposure

  • Field foreman transitioning into estimating

  • Estimators at large firms seeking a smaller, family-run company

  • Candidates who have hit a growth ceiling and want more opportunity
