Job Description Test Engineer - GCCS-J Location: Newport News, VA - On-site Full-Time Required Position Type: Full-Time Clearance Requirement: Active Secret Clearance Program: Global Command and Control System - Joint (GCCS-J) Position Summary We are seeking a Test Engineer to support the modernization of the Global Command and Control System-Joint (GCCS-J) through test planning, execution, automation, and quality assurance activities across multiple product areas. This role supports verification and validation efforts to ensure new capabilities meet operational, architectural, cybersecurity, and performance requirements while working closely with developers, product owners, and government stakeholders. Program Summary GCCS-J is the DoD's Joint Command and Control system of record, delivering a fused, real-time battlespace picture to commanders and warfighters.

The modernization effort focuses on cloud-native architecture, microservices, enhanced data integration, improved user experience, and alignment with JADC2 objectives. Key Responsibilities Test Planning & Strategy Develop and maintain test plans, strategies, and procedures. Identify and define test cases for new features and capabilities.

Support functional, integration, regression, performance, and security testing approaches. Test Execution Execute manual and automated test cases. Validate APIs, microservices, distributed systems, data flows, and UI components.

Document defects, track resolutions, and verify fixes. Automation & DevSecOps Develop and maintain automated test scripts and regression suites. Support integration of automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.

Assist with DevSecOps testing activities and continuous quality improvements. Agile & Sprint Support Participate in Sprint ceremonies, Sprint Reviews, Process Reviews, and Design Reviews. Validate acceptance criteria and support Definition of Done requirements.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement Work closely with developers, product owners, system engineers, and government customers. Support integration activities, test readiness reviews, and formal test events. Documentation & Reporting Maintain test artifacts, documentation, and status reporting.

Provide input on schedules, testing timelines, and risk areas. User & Mission Focus Validate workflows and operational usability with end users. Ensure systems meet mission, security, and data integrity requirements.

Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline. 3+ years of experience in software or system testing. Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

Experience testing distributed systems, APIs, microservices, or data pipelines. Familiarity with automation tools, scripting languages, and automated testing frameworks. Familiarity with Linux/UNIX environments and containerized deployments.

Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills. Active Secret clearance required. Preferred Qualifications Experience with GCCS-J, Joint C2 systems, or other DoD platforms.

Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices. Familiarity with DISA processes and RMF compliance requirements. Knowledge of geospatial or intelligence data flows and formats.

Experience supporting Developmental Test (DT) and Operational Test (OT) events. Experience as an operator or system administrator within GCCS-J or related systems. TS/SCI clearance preferred.
