Job description

The CEMS Supervisor is responsible for leading environmental compliance programs with a primary focus on Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) and air regulatory requirements. This role ensures the facility maintains compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal environmental regulations while minimizing risk and supporting safe, reliable plant operations.

Gavin Generation is a 2,600-megawatt supercritical coal-fired power station in the village of Cheshire, Ohio, United States. It is majority owned by Energy Capital Partners and a minor stake is held by Javelin Global Commodities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure facility compliance with all applicable environmental regulations, minimizing risk of penalties, violations, or legal exposure (including local, state, and federal requirements).
  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of environmental policies, procedures, and compliance programs.
  • Coordinate and fulfill Title V air permit requirements.
  • Manage and oversee the Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) program.
  • Prepare and submit required quarterly, semi-annual, and annual air emissions reports.
  • Maintain proactive communication with stakeholders to ensure awareness of regulatory changes and impacts.
  • Provide regulatory leadership and direction to plant personnel to ensure daily compliance with permits and environmental requirements.
  • Support budget development and cost management related to environmental compliance programs.
  • Interpret and apply evolving environmental laws, regulations, and permit requirements to support proactive compliance strategies.
  • Plan and conduct internal audits to verify adherence to regulatory requirements and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Serve as the primary interface with regulatory agencies, including inspections, data requests, permitting actions, and compliance reporting.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, maintenance, engineering, and leadership teams to support safe and compliant plant performance.
  • Participate in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Promote and support a strong safety culture through coaching and collaboration.
  • Manage third-party contractors and vendors supporting environmental compliance functions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
