Job description

Pay: $36.18 - $40.89
The Door and Millwork Plant Operation Supervisor helps ensure that the plant achieves its goals through providing guidance and direction to operational employees in the yard. This position is responsible for making sure plant operations are running both efficiently and safely from loading customer vehicles to planning delivery routes and vehicle maintenance.
This position reports directly to Plant Manager and works closely with all plant personnel.

Duties and Responsibilities

Tasks

  • Use independent judgment and exercise discretion when performing supervisory duties, evaluating employees, training employees, assigning, and distributing work to employees
  • Establish and maintain a comfortable and safe working environment for all employees
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with customers
  • Identify and respond to the need for personnel changes at the yard, and assist in hiring of new employees
  • Holds team accountable for proper usage and care of all assets
  • Assign overtime work consistent with Company policies
  • Investigate employee misconduct and safety violations
  • Create and maintain a well-rounded staff through cross training, open communications and continuing education
  • Maintain corporate guidelines and criteria for customer service
  • Ensure cleanliness of yard is maintained and holds team accountable for such behavior
  • Ensure an appropriate level of inventory is maintained at the yard
  • Respond to customer complaints and concerns
  • Efficiently schedule delivery orders and credit returns
  • Set the work schedule for truck drivers and yard employees
  • Assist Driver's Safety Committee in accident investigation
  • Enforce federally mandated Drug and Alcohol Policy
  • Remain current on changing Federal and state laws in regards to interstate commerce and the operation of commercial motor vehicles
  • Ensure that appropriate paper work is completed as per company policy
  • Ensure daily safety audit of forklifts and trucks are performed, and that malfunctioning equipment is promptly reported
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

  • Never throws people under the bus, if it's a yard problem/challenge, ops lead takes ownership of the problem

Qualifications

  • 2 years of previous experience in a similar job
  • 1 year of leadership experience preferred
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Ability to speak, write, and read English required
  • Class C driver's license and must have and maintain a good driving record required
  • OSHA Certified Forklift License
  • Must be able to operate personal computer, smartphone, scanner, and any other equipment necessary for the job
  • Must be able to type 40+ WPM
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Shoes that are puncture resistant, slip resistant, and made of leather or composite material required

Working Conditions

This position primarily works outdoors in all weather conditions. The working hours typically fall between a 5:00am to 5:00pm window with overtime as needed.

  • Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds and carry objects 50 feet
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
