Job description

Title of Position: Patient Accounts Billing Representative II Location: Gateways Hospital- Business Office Exempt/Non-Exempt: Non-Exempt Union/ Non-Union: Non-Union Supervisor: Director of Revenue Cycle Management
Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center, located in Los Angeles, is a non-profit organization that provides an array of comprehensive mental health services for Children, Adolescents, Transitional Aged Youth, and Adults suffering from mental illness in the Greater Los Angeles area. The organization consists of a standalone fifty-five (55) )-bed hospital and six outlying outpatient facilities that have anywhere from fourteen (14) beds to one hundred and thirty-four (134) beds. The organization has approximately four hundred (400) employees.
SUMMARY OF POSITION
This position is responsible for all client financials from admission until discharge. The Patient Account Rep II will bill and transmit EDI claims and enter client data into the billing systems on a daily basis. This position will also interview inpatients and/or their families as needed upon admission to Gateways Hospital.
Candidates must be bilingual in English and Spanish to be considered for this role.
ESSENTIALS DUTIES
  • EDI billing/transmission of claims. Data entry of all charges for the Inpatient and Outpatient Programs.
  • All daily closes for services rendered and charged, checked for accuracy.
  • All patient files kept current with pertinent information filed.
  • Communicate on a daily basis with hospital personnel, i.e., clinicians and doctors to ensure receipt of all billing documents.
  • Review all patient services for accuracy with department stats and requirements.
  • Communicate with clients/family in writing for any and all necessary documents.
  • Daily banking process when needed.
  • Prepare report binders for accounting at the month end close.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS
  • Ability to type 45 W.P.M. without mistake.
  • Ability to work with constant interruptions.
  • Ability to relate to others.
  • Knowledge of current, relevant office computer software.
  • Ability to operate office machines, including 10 key adding machines.
  • Ability to process heavily detailed information.
  • Ability to work with computerized billing systems and use of computerized spreadsheet software
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff.
  • Ability to interact with mentally ill individuals.

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATES
  • High School Diploma

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in patient billing.
  • One year of general typing and clerical experience.
  • Bilingual Proficiency: Must be professionally fluent in written and spoken Spanish and English.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Must pass Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), and Community Care Licensing (CCL) background clearance.
  • TB clearance
