Job description

Position Description: Position is responsible for coordinating Barton's Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Program. The coordinator will manage driving assistant recruitment and supervision, maintain FMCSA compliance, program marketing and recruitment, and program budgets. Coordinator will also work to develop partnerships with industry leaders and school districts. Position Responsibilities: 5.00% - Consults with the Dean/Executive Director in developing a program budget. 20.00% - Prepares vocational and other mandated reports, including but not limited to SAPP reporting, FMCSA clearinghouse reporting, maintaining FMCSA training provider registry, and Kansas Department of Revenue tracking. 5.00% - Establishes and sustains relationships within the trucking community, including business and industry. 5.00% - Participates in recruitment activities and advises students with the CDL program. 5.00% - Assists in the development of the class schedules for the CDL program. 45.00% - Provides instruction, leadership, and coordination for the Commercial Driver's License (CDL) program, with specific emphasis on student learning, instructional excellence and curricular innovation. 5.00% - Performs other duties as needed or assigned. 5.00% - Aids in the application, interview, and selection processes of CDL test examiners and driving assistants. 5.00% - Serves the college through professional activities and responsibilities. Expectations: Faculty member will cooperate with their colleagues on and off campus, other campus departments, supervisors, and administration in carrying out the mission of the college. Expected to maintain appropriate licensing for position. Expected to maintain a valid DOT physical card. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Experience - Two years to five years of similar or related experience. Education - A high school education or GED. Other Skills - Class A CDL with Combination Vehicle and Airbrake Endorsement and a Minimum of two years relevant professional experience. Passenger, School Bus, and HazMat endorsements preferred.
Interpersonal Skills - A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or can be of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others. Physical Requirements: The work requires minor physical exertion such as short periods of standing, walking over rough uneven surfaces, some recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities. Job may require recurring lifting of lightweight objects with infrequent bending or stooping alternating with the lighter activities. Job requires minimal agility and dexterity. Occasional exposure to objectionable conditions or variations such as those found in variable weather conditions or light industrial settings.
