The Duke Comparative Oncology Group, in conjunction with the Department of Orthopaedics at Duke University Medical Center, is seeking a Lab Research Analyst I to work at the nexus of comparative evolutionary biology and cancer. The Lab Analyst I will work as part of a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, veterinarians, and PhD researchers who use a cross-species comparative approach to understanding and treating cancer.

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's degree in botany, biology, zoology, psychology, or other directly related scientific field.
  • Two years of research experience. A related master's degree may offset required years of experience on a 1:1 basis, e.g., a two-year master's degree in lieu of two years of experience.  

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Fundamental understanding of biology
  • Willingness to work with diverse educational backgrounds
  • Willingness to learn new techniques
  • High emotional intelligence and the ability to teach students effectively
  • Great sense of being a self-starter
  • Approach challenges with a solution in mind.

  • Hybrid eligible. The position (exempt only) is partially remote, and the employee must reside in a Duke University-approved state.

Work Performed:

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate students basic laboratory techniques.
  • Conduct basic benchtop experimental work.
  • Basic statistical analysis of data.
  • Organize a weekly laboratory meeting.

Anticipated Pay Range: Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $52,477.00 to USD $79,504.00. Duke University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
