Automated Gate & Access Control Technician

Location:
New Orleans / Kenner, LA

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Automated Gate & Access Control Technician to install, service, and troubleshoot gate automation and entry control systems throughout the New Orleans / Kenner area.

This is a field-based technician role supporting commercial and residential customers with automated gate operators, access control equipment, intercoms, keypads, telephone entry systems, and related low-voltage equipment.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with automated gate systems and is comfortable diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and low-voltage issues in the field.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, service, and troubleshoot automated gate operators, including swing gate and sliding gate systems
  • Diagnose and repair issues involving gate motors, operators, control boards, loops, sensors, safety devices, photo eyes, and related components
  • Install and service access control devices, intercoms, keypads, card readers, remotes, telephone entry systems, and entry control equipment
  • Perform low-voltage wiring, terminations, testing, and basic system programming
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and connectivity issues related to gate and access systems
  • Read work orders, wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, and installation documentation
  • Work on both commercial and residential gate/access systems
  • Communicate professionally with customers and provide reliable, timely service
  • Maintain accurate job documentation, parts usage, and service notes
  • Maintain company vehicle, tools, and inventory in a clean and professional manner
  • Follow safety procedures when working around gates, electrical components, vehicles, and active job sites

Required Experience:

  • Automated gate operator installation and service experience
  • Experience with gate operator brands such as LiftMaster, DoorKing, Viking, HySecurity, FAAC, Linear, Nice, or similar
  • Access control, intercom, keypad, card reader, or telephone entry experience
  • Low-voltage wiring and troubleshooting experience
  • Ability to use a multimeter and basic diagnostic tools
  • Experience working independently in a field service role
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with loop detectors, safety edges, vehicle sensors, photo eyes, and gate safety devices
  • Experience with commercial access control systems
  • Familiarity with welding, fabrication, or basic gate repair
  • Experience with network-connected access systems or IP-based devicesPrior experience as a Gate Technician, Gate Operator Technician, Access Control Technician, Low Voltage Technician, Security Systems Technician, or Field Service Technician

Schedule / Location:

  • Local field technician role serving the New Orleans / Kenner area
  • Primarily local travel to customer sites
  • Company vehicle provided for field work
