Private Housekeeper - Part-Time or Full-Time
Location: New York City
Position Overview
A warm and welcoming family in New York City is seeking an experienced Housekeeper to join their household. The family is open to hiring either a Part-Time or Full-Time candidate, depending on the right fit. Ideally, they are looking for someone who can support their home approximately two days per week, but they are also open to a full-time candidate who would divide their schedule by working additional days each week for a close family friend. A weekend day can be incorporated into the schedule if preferred.
The ideal candidate is an experienced private housekeeper who takes pride in maintaining a beautifully organized, polished, and welcoming home environment. This role requires someone who is proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable working collaboratively in a fully staffed household. The successful candidate will provide exceptional service while maintaining the highest level of discretion, professionalism, and respect for the family's privacy.
Responsibilities
General Housekeeping & Home Maintenance
  • Perform daily and detailed housekeeping throughout the residence
  • Maintain a consistently clean, organized, and guest-ready home
  • Complete weekly deep cleaning projects and seasonal cleaning tasks
  • Dust, vacuum, mop, and care for a variety of fine surfaces, finishes, and furnishings
  • Maintain high-touch areas including door handles, light switches, fixtures, and frequently used spaces
  • Spot clean walls, baseboards, doors, and decorative elements as needed
  • Ensure all rooms are thoughtfully arranged and maintained to the family's standards
  • Assist with household organization, including closets, storage areas, and living spaces
Room-by-Room Responsibilities
Kitchen
  • Maintain a spotless and organized kitchen environment
  • Clean countertops, cabinetry, appliances, and fixtures
  • Ensure refrigerators, pantries, and storage areas remain organized and well maintained
  • Wash, polish, and properly care for fine china, silver, glassware, and specialty items
  • Assist with light meal preparation, food preparation, or starting dinner when requested
  • Support household provisioning and organization of kitchen supplies as needed
Living Areas & Common Spaces
  • Maintain formal and informal living spaces to the highest standards
  • Dust and care for fine furniture, décor, artwork, and specialty surfaces

Bedrooms
  • Make beds daily and maintain a hotel-level presentation

  • Dust and care for bedroom furniture, décor, and personal items
  • Assist with seasonal organization and closet upkeep
Bathrooms
  • Maintain immaculate bathrooms with attention to detail
  • Clean and sanitize showers, tubs, sinks, countertops, mirrors, and fixtures
  • Restock toiletries, towels, and household supplies
  • Ensure bathrooms are consistently guest-ready
Laundry & Wardrobe Care
  • Manage household laundry, including washing, drying, folding, and ironing

  • Iron and prepare business attire, casual clothing, and special garments
  • Assist with seasonal wardrobe transitions and organization

  • Maintain inventory of household supplies and notify the family when replenishment is needed
Household Collaboration
  • Work closely with the family's full-time Nanny to ensure the home runs smoothly
  • Coordinate daily priorities and household needs with other staff members
  • Assist in maintaining a calm, organized, and welcoming environment
  • Communicate professionally and respectfully with the family and household team
