General Summary: The Criminal Investigator is directly responsible to the Prosecutor. The principal duty of the CI will be to assist the Chief Prosecutor and the Assistant Prosecutor in gathering evidence and preparing criminal and juvenile cases for trial. The CI must be a certified officer.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities: The principal duty of the CI is to work closely with the Prosecutor and/ or Assistant Prosecutor in preparing for the trial of criminal, juvenile and civil actions, including without limitation the following:
Collecting physical and documentary evidence and interviewing witnesses in preparation for trial of criminal, juvenile and civil cases.
Testifying whenever necessary at trials and hearings in criminal, juvenile and civil cases.
Acting as a liaison between the Department of Justice, the United States Attorney' s Office, the Lighthorse Police, and the Office of Public Gaming in the investigation and prosecution of criminal cases.
Reviewing evidence, witness statements and reports prepared by Lighthorse Police and making recommendations in connection therewith to the Prosecutor.
Assisting the Prosecutor or the Assistant Prosecutor in charge of juvenile cases in preparing for trial, gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses.
Investigating and gathering evidence of fraud, embezzlement and gaming related crimes. CI will work closely with the Office of Public Gaming to protect the Nation' s gaming facilities against criminal activity.
Giving emergency assistance to the Lighthorse Police, Federal law enforcement agencies and other cross deputized law enforcement agencies.
Minimum Requirements: Must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid Oklahoma driver' s license. Minimum of Associates Degree in Criminal Justice, Business Administration,
Police Science, Economies or related field.

Minimum of Associates Degree in Criminal Justice, Business Administration,
Police Science, Economies or related field.
Federal Indian law experience and/ or experience in tribal law enforcement,
legal orjurisdictional issues is also preferred. Must have obtained CLEET or BIA ( FLETC) basic peace officer certification. Must attend 40 hours of in- service law enforcement training annually. Must maintain law enforcement weapons qualification. May be required to attend and complete Federal Law Enforcement Criminal
Investigators 9- week academy. Must have work experience in criminal law enforcement and be capable of
testifying in court, interviewing witnesses, investigating criminal or juvenile cases, and preparing reports describing or summarizing such investigations.
A minimum of 3 years experience as a criminal investigator for a law enforcement agency is required with a minimum of 5 years strongly preferred.
Some experience and skill in interacting with Native people, especially the Muscogee people, is strongly preferred.
Must have ability to work or deal effectively with individuals or groups of persons; skill in collecting, assembling documentary pertinent facts; ability to prepare clear and concise reports, ability and willingness to accept responsibility and ability and willingness to work cooperatively with the Prosecutor and Assistant Prosecutor.
Must have ( 1) initiative, ingenuity, resourcefulness and judgment required to collect assemble and develop facts and other pertinent data; ( 2) ability to think logically and objectively to analyze and evaluate facts, evidence and related information and arrive at sound conclusions; ( 3) skill in preparing written and oral reports and presentations of investigative findings in a clear, concise and impartial manner; and ( 4) tact, discretion, and capacity for obtaining the cooperation and confidence of others.
