Job description

Are you an experienced tabletop RPG designer with the demonstrated ability to lead major RPG products from inception through publication?

We are seeking a Senior Game Developer to provide in-depth review and quality control of D&D products produced outside the Game Design team. In this role, you'll ensure that game content is consistent, functional, and fun. As necessary, you'll also work to design and write meaningful portions of D&D products. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, are excited to work on a wide variety of D&D offerings, and can work hands-on to bring content up to high internal standards, this position is for you!

Location & Work Arrangement

This role is based in Renton, WA and follows a hybrid schedule, with in-office collaboration Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday each week.

What You'll Do:
  • Act as the primary design review stakeholder for second-party content, ensuring external partners' work meets D&D's rules standards, quality bar, and brand alignment
  • Provide design and development support across internal products, contributing content and product refinement
  • Serve as a deep subject matter expert in D&D's rules systems, design conventions, and mechanical standards
  • Apply expertise to evaluate and elevate content across multiple products and formats
  • Collaborate with producers, project leads, and graphic designers to build project schedules
  • Review game content at key pipeline stages to identify issues with rules clarity, mechanical consistency, and internal standards
  • Apply combined design and editing experience to strengthen rules language, catch inconsistencies, and improve usability across manuscripts and final files
  • Represent Wizards of the Coast and D&D at events and in interviews
What You'll Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in the liberal arts, or equivalent professional experience
  • 6+ years developing RPG products with significant credits on products from known publishers
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong familiarity with Dungeons & Dragons and proficiency in the fifth edition rules
  • A track record of developing innovative and balanced game mechanics
  • Experience collaborating with and guiding both in-house and external designers
  • An eye for detail and dedication to excellence
