The Preproduction Engineer works closely with the Preproduction Manager during all phases of a production project. This position is responsible for basic electrical power, lighting, and low voltage installations. Will also assist with developing budgets, constructability reviews, value engineering, and overall project documentation support.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Associate or Bachelor's Degree

Experience: 5 years of electrical or systems experience or Entry level CAD/Revit or Accubid experience and 5 or more years of Manufacturing and/or Construction experience preferred.

Travel: 0-10%

Work Schedule: Typical work hours are between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday. However, work may be performed at any time on any day of the week to meet business needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works with the Preproduction Manager, Project Managers, and Estimating team members on the development of project budgets, cost alternatives, change orders, and proposals.
  • Supports the project team by developing and providing design, budgeting, and model coordination on projects
  • Keeps Preproduction Manager abreast to changes and modifications that are made during the process.
  • Manage project submittal and Request for Information (RFI) process.
  • Provides support to field and shop personnel during the production and site construction process, translates the design intent to the field, may work on site as needed.
  • Attends meetings and site visits as needed to document existing conditions.
  • Creates and documents value engineering solutions, which include identifying various design solutions and quantifying specific cost elements that are affected.
  • Assists and works with the assigned engineering team in the development of designs to meet project goals.
  • Supports the collection of schedule and production data from preproduction, engineering, VDC, field, and production floor to support project control functions.
  • Supports MEP coordination and managers the upfront setup of projects in various client platforms with other trade contractors.
  • Supports construction as-built and documentation process.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
